Me too. I hate option football. At least I don't have to watch option chit on Sunday.

U can't be serious! Jj has been the biggest disaster in LSU history! U must of missed the last twofold years.

If jj could run the offense, and hit the broad side of a barn with a pass, I might would agree, but history shows he can't and he can't.

COM is using jj in his best role for the team, a change up.

To this point, I think he is used so teams have to prepare for both QBs, plus CLM probably thinks he deserves the reps. By all accounts he worked really hard and looked great leading up to this year. And so far I would have to say that hard work has paid off, he does look better in the limited sample we have.

Where we're different is most schools that have a "dual" threat have one guy.

NO!!! Crowton was the biggest disaster!!! History shows that Crowton did nothing but harm both JL & JJ. Krags has improved both significantly and it has shown on the field. The offense is simplified and has logic and not overly complicated by usless player and formation changes. JL has confidence in his receivers (maybe a little shout out to Billy G) and what he is asked to do. JJ's few passes have been better and his motion is more compact.

I agree CLM (and Suds & Krags) is using both to the best for the team. It is a compliment to him AND JL & JJ that they have made the best FOR THE TEAM and put us in the position.

In this case forget the past and enjoy the present. Worry about the future tomorrow. :geaux:

The option is typically something you run when you are looking to offset a lack of quality players on your team. It (partially) negates the speed of a defense because they have to stop and read instead of just reacting.

The biggest issue that LSU has had running the option is that they do not run it well. Its not something you can just throw in to your playbook. Running the option as a qb is a skill that has to be learned and practiced.

With that said, QB runs do not always have to be an option play. QB draws and QB leads are great plays for LSU to run. The qb takes the snap in the shotgun, snaps the ball upwards to a passing position, then tucks and follows the FB up the middle. The timing of the play is no different from a draw play with the RB taking the ball. This means that there really is no change for the linemen in their blocking scheme. Marcus Randall ran this play really well back when he split time with JR. JJ has ran it a few times this year as well.

Wasn't Spencer Ware a pretty big-time HS QB?

I think he could give us some options in that Dept. next year.

Maybe even a little trickeration this year as well!
