Funny, after reading your response, an add for pepto bismol kicks in. Guess gettin over gump gear adds has a remedy.
Something like that. The number of fair weather and band wagon fans Bammer seems to attract makes marketing people assume that any interest is an indication that one is ready to buy a ticket on the Gump Express.
If these ads run just like the majority on the Internet, they're based on each individuals search history.
I've enjoyed the football talk here. Hell, I was here before Saban won his NC for LSU and stuck through it during the Shula years. Geez, I'd have to look, but I'd bet it's going on 11 years now. If I had my wish? This conspiracy stuff would stop. Honestly, there's a handful here that sound a lot like Auburn fans. Considering the success of the LSU program for the last decade that's just...well, sad. You know, I think back about conversations where I voiced my opinion about Miles and how I didn't see him as being able to continue the success. Today, I'm as baffled as I was several years ago. I don't know how he does it, but he does. He's a true enigma. Bottom line, with the exception of one person, I've enjoyed my time here.
The Den is pretty much a pro Miles crowd. I know how Les does it, the guy can recruit, recruit, recruit. He has coaches that he is extremely close to and they seem to be loyal to him. That means a lot to him and the same loyalty is seen in his concern for his players. If he was less emotional about his coaching peers, say more like Tuberville, who would keep changing until he got what he wanted and needed, might be even better.
I remember the same thing would happen when the Saints would play the 9ers back in the Montana-Young years. I think when calls are borderline, officials let the fact that one team has recently been or is in the midst of a dynasty influence those calls. Remeber the Jerry Rice non-fumble going into the endzone in the Dome in 1989? I sure do. Holding calls, PI, etc... are judgements by and large. If one team is thought of as "superior" it prods the officials to give them the benefit of the doubt in a grey-area type situation. Why wouldn't it? They are a "championship team." Plus, the SEC offices being in Bama and Bama and Auburns history of sanctions and probation fuel that as well. Whether you agree with those sanctions or not. It is what it is. Just like the SEC offices being in the state of Alabama. Plus, ya'll have the most championships, plus the Bama grads in high-ranking SEC positions. Not saying I agree with all those theories, but you have to at least understand why there could possibly be some questions, right? Lot of "coincidences" there, huh? Give us a break. We just all want the best for LSU and Bama stands directly in our way!
We just all want the best for LSU and Bama stands directly in our way! That's perfectly understandable. "plus the Bama grads in high-ranking SEC positions." And this isn't. Mark Womack has been in the SEC offices for over a decade. Where were the complaints when teams had winning streaks against Bama? Steve Shaw has been brought up here on many occasion. What makes that funny to me is this is Shaw's first season over the SEC officials. And yet, we see people bringing up a supposed bias with examples dating back before he was in the position? Humble in victory, gracious in defeat. Most would call that good sportsmanship. Finding excuses for losing is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Certainly eases the pain and makes it easier to accept. Pardon my french but it's a fucked up mindset. I've seen it, within our own fan base, not too long ago.
no offense dude, but blah blah. I'm not here to argue the validity of said conspiracy theories. I'm just telling you why some LSU fans are inclined to question some things. Like it or not...it is what it is.
I was speaking toungue-in-cheek when I said the banner ads were part of a conspiracy. Didn't mean to rile up the old argument by using the dreaded "C" word.
