Do Liberals have more in common with the Tea Partiers than they would like to admit?

Exactly.. I find little difference between Hannity and the news guy that comes on every hour and reads the same headlines over and over. Never really cared for him too much. I do like to listen to Levin though.

I was speaking of his smarts relative to Beck. Hannity is an idiot too, but he is nowhere near as dumb as a Beck. Beck may be the dumbest political pundit there is. He literally does not know what he is talking about. In one breath Obama is a fascist in the next he is a socialist. Which is it? They are different things, but he is too much of an oaf to know that and is not intellectually honest enough to care either way.

Yep. He doesn't care what term he has to throw around, his only objective is to try and scare the living daylights out of people. I call that "appealing to the lowest common denominator". I've found that it's the preferred forte' of Fox News personalities in general, but Beck takes it to another level. It's sadly much more effective than it should be.

If you're being honest, it's a tactic used to great effect by Liberals and the Democrat party in all matters concerning race.

Well, I wasn't speaking about party lines, but you could also add environmental issues and gun control to that. But it doesn't change the fact that Fox News is light years ahead of any other news network with regards to employing this tactic. That's why they get such good ratings. Fear entertains, and people want to be entertained far more than they want to be informed.

Nah. That's ridiculous. Have you watched some of the blatently partisan, hyperbolic, hyperventilating garbage that MSNBC puts out? In fact, I'd say that - from a purely network news standpoint - CNN started the war, MSNBC took it to a new level, and Fox has responded in spades.

That is only a convenient argument for folks who don't want to entertain the fact that a significant portion of the country is very conservative. Also, Fox gets good ratings because, they understand entertainment and their audience better than the other networks.

+1000 :thumb: This explains Jon Stewart, Bill Mahr, Obermann, in fact all of MSNBC, just as much as it explains Fox.

Here's another thought. Because of modern television broacasting, and the internet, you now don't have to get news you don't want to hear. You can very easily only get the opinions that match your own political bent - that make you feel good about yourself and validate your biases. It's so soothing.

It's a broken record for me - but I prefer books with footnotes. Anything else (with very few exceptions, like the Economist) is editorialized drivel and purely entertainment.

I like the books where the pictures stand up and you can open doors and windows and stuff.

If you watch the show you'll find that he always turns out to be right. I like him because he tells us things about Obama and his band of merry men that we would never know otherwise because the other media can't talk with Obamajism in their mouths. You should hawk too.
