Has to be Holloman but Montgomery could follow as well since he has liked LSU all along and Vic could be the tipping point.

Rivals currently does not rate anyone from South Carolina a 5-star.

The only 5-star Scout currently has from Scout Carolina is Devonte Holloman.

From a Nov 14 article from Scout:

Holloman originally committed to the Gamecocks’ in-state rival Clemson in May, but decommitted shortly after Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden resigned in October. Holloman then opened things up to the Gamecocks, North Carolina, LSU and Tennessee.

But after a near-perfect official visit to South Carolina, the rangy safety knew it was probably the place for him

    ...

“No more visits for me; USC it is,” Holloman said. Once Holloman opened things up it was only a matter of time before [Defensive Coordinator Ellis] Johnson and safeties coach Ron Cooper opened his eyes. Both played a large role in him ultimately picking the Gamecocks. “They’re great coaches, and they treat their players just like they would their sons or daughters, but they hold them accountable for what they’re doing.” Holloman said. “I really like that they hold them responsible for what they do. I just really like the way they treat them as people, and just more or less them as coaches.” ... “The coaches (played a big part)."

I've had many a player tell me all through high school and right up until signing day that they were coming to Alabama, then they signed with somebody else.

    Most likely Sam Montgomery.

His referring to him as a 5 star may be his perception of how good this kid is. He's a high 4 star, so close enough.

Holloman is solid SC, and his reasoning was distance. It appears he was tied to the head coach Bowden moreso than Koenning. Billy Napier recruited him. I have no idea what kind of relationship he may have developed with Koenning.

One other possibility is Malliciah Goodman, 4 star SDE and current Clemson commit, but I doubt it. He was not recruited by Koenning.

To answer the original question, Mallory is not assigned to any of our recruits. Peveto is tied to a few of them. There is a thread in the Den that I posted that which players are being recruited by which LSU coach.

Bringing in a guy like Koenning can only solidify our recruits and hopefully bring in a couple of more (JJones, Telfort, Montgomery, Dye, Myles, Armstrong).

I would be happy with 1 LB, DE and SS from that group.
