Woods can be a high draft pick for a team that runs a two gap scheme because he is the prototype for those schemes as well as being lean enough to play in a one gap scheme. He has to work on staying low which is difficult for his height, and probably the reason for his supposed poor play. I thought he was a better option than Marlon Favorite after Charles Alexander went down.
Many of the guys we have coming up haven't lived up to the hype they had as freshmen due to the superb players ahead of them and the learning curve. I think we'll see Woods come into his own this year, he is quick enough to play any scheme according to the info I get from people, we'll see. And looking at the dlinemen we've signed since Miles got here and the ones we are in the mix for currently makes me smile inside. There's no better way to keep a program on the upward path than having a great dline every year.
good thread Parso as always, considering the depth chart, i say we sign 4 in this class. We have alot of talent in those position, but not alot of skill after these guys leave or get drafted. But we will continue the tradition here at LSU as being D-Line U. so as of now we have RJF Al Woods Tyson Jackson (sr) Kirston Pittman 9th year sr :hihi: Rahim Alem Charles Alexander Drake Nevis Will Blackwell and others
I was disappointed in Wood's play eary in the season last year. I thought he played with a lot more intensity and effectivness toward the end of the season.
alexander pittman rjf jackson johnson favorite are these the guys we are losing after the '08 season on the d-line? im figuring after the two games rjf had last year he will go to the draft after next year, and with him having grade problems too. just my assumption. is there anyone that im missing or shouldnt be on here?
