Re: Darrington Sentimore I watched the game in HD and he looked like he has most of the year. Still struggles wit shedding blocks at times but is in the backfield much of the game. Even when he is not in on a tackle his is causing havoc fairly consistently. He takes some plays off here and there as well and I have seen it a few games this year. College coaching can correct those habits and techniques. Porter had a great game as well but Sentimore stood out the most from what I saw. He made a great play to win the game for them but I can't say he is the MVP mostly because of that one play.
Re: Darrington Sentimore From the 1/4 to 1/3 of the game I had a close-up view of him in action, he struggled getting into the backfield in a one-on-one situation with a much smaller guy blocking him. But on the other hand, he was named game MVP and other people said this about his performance last night: Dandy Don: I was very impressed with defensive tackle Darrington Sentimore from Destrehan ... Sentimore has great quickness and almost single-handedly shut down West Monroe's inside running game listened to about half the game on the radio. Sentimore was in on almost every play, it seemed like. He won the MVP I'm told. He is dominating the 5A title game! D Sentimore is tearing up WMonroe's offensive line Sentimore is a beast.. That is all... as usual, the kid had a monster game. he's been dominate the past two years his techinque has gotten better. Sentimore may never make it on the field [even if he gets taken by a major college program] [West Monroe's] Dillon Day #65 (oline) ... only player I saw last night DOMINATE Sentimore. He pancaked him 3 times I counted. Def LSU material Note: this #65 Dillon Day is a junior for West Monroe listed as a 6'4, 243 OT... he is not the #75 senior Big Hurd (6'7 286) I was talking about who was the biggest guy on the West Monroe OL (and a guy who also completely dominated Sentimore) And this #65 Dillon Day guy is not the left guard guy that I'm talking about that was the smallest guy on the West Monroe OL--the guy I saw that had to take Sentimore on last night in a one-on-one situation, and did a great job of beating Sentimore from what I saw--this small left tackle guy I am talking about was a guy that was listed as 5'10 or 5'11 and that weighed in the mid-range 200s. Unfortunately, I didn't make a mental note of who it was. Just looking at the seniors listed as OL, it could have been senior OL #52 Daniel Dupuy (5'10, 238), senior OL #58 Kolt Sistrunk (5'10, 228), senior OL #71 Kondall Guillott (5'11, 238)... or maybe it was one of the underclassmen or one of the guys not listed as OL. Any help from a West Monroe fan would be appreciated. Regardless, the small LG for West Monroe that I'm talking about should have been no match for 6'2, 280 Sentimore, but he didn't have a problem containing Sentimore by himself from what I saw with my close-up view of Sentimore in action on my side of the field (which was like 1/3 to 1/4 of the game).
Re: Darrington Sentimore Well, the part of the game I was able to catch on the radio was the Sentimore show while Destrehan was on defense. But seeing is believing, I guess. He sure SOUNDED dominating.
Re: Darrington Sentimore Someone on another board said they sat with some coaches and ex-NFL players and all of them said Sentimore was "soft". FYI.
Re: Darrington Sentimore I believe it. That was what I was getting at when he took plays off and gave up at times when the OL got leverage on him early in the play. However, when he got off a good 1st step he was in the backfield almost every time. Coaching will correct that hopefully and I don't think that coaching will be at LSU but I still get a feeling he is still one of our backup plans should everything else fall through.
Re: Darrington Sentimore Well coaching won't correct laziness. That's up to him entirely. I suspect we won't hear great things from Sentimore, even at Bama.
Re: Darrington Sentimore The "well he sucks, we didn't need him anyway" attutude in recruiting just kills me...It's hilarious actually. :hihi:
Re: Darrington Sentimore It would be one thing if the player had an offer and our coaches were clearly recruiting him hard and our fanbase said that... However, in this case, it is pretty clear that we didn't need him. Good luck to him at Bama.
Re: Darrington Sentimore Understandable. I just keep hearing about how Saban is conservative on offense...but he's anything but that defensively. Serious question here: How many "soft" DLmen did he recruit at LSU?
