Berkshire Hathaway - which Buffett built from a modest textile outfit into a $400B multi-industry titan - currently employs 361,270 people. Source: Bloomberg. Did he "create" these jobs? Eh, gray area. But he has created immense, low-volatility wealth for a lot of people. He has also saved a lot of jobs simply by being a great steward of the companies he acquires. Still, hard to quantify. I think the talk of Trump being a bad businessman is overblown. But I also don't think he is, or ever has been, a billionaire. And I know his time as the head of a public company was a disaster for everyone.
Sorry guys, he doesn't own all of those. He licenses his name. Pitiful that someone would pay to put Trump's name on their building, and it is even pitifuler someone would stay there because of his name. Of course, based on the non stop shit show since Jan 20, I expect there is a minor dip in that appeal!
If his name is on something he either owns it or is owed royalties. Even when he dumped his casinos they paid him 10% royalty.
If you listened to the media this ruling by the 9th is like a commandment from heaven. Lest any of my progressive friends take too much comfort in the 9th's ruling they should read this. As the author said, there is much wrong with Trump's EO but the court rather than taking a judicial review issued a political polemic. It undermines the faith in government as much as the order. They should read this. https://www.lawfareblog.com/ninth-circuits-contrived-comedy-errors-washington-v-trump-part-i
Consider this....remember a few years ago, the State of Arizona got fed up with the Obama admin failing to go after immigrants, so they wrote the authority to do it themselves into their state constitution. But the courts struck down the rule, saying specifically, the authority to enforce immigration standards is solely that of the federal government. Now, remember your junior high civics lesson on duties of the three branches of government. The Legislative branch writes the law, the Executive branch executes the law, the Judicial branch interprets the law. The Executive branch executes the law. So what the court in the Arizona case really said was, the authority to enforce immigration standards is solely that of the President. Now the 9th Circus says he doesn't.....connect these two, and you can make the case that the US court system now says America has no authority to protect its borders!
