We lost 13-3 to a Florida team that was playing to protect its QB and that dominated all aspects of the game. We had a few defensive players (and Scott) assert themselves, but we never did that as a whole. You don't expect much because you can look at internet t&a, which is good for coaches who under-perform. Hell, we looked tentative against ULL.
As much as I'd like to credit our D for that score Florida also had something to do with that score. They missed a fg and if you ask me they were beatable and didn't bring their best game and we couldn't and didn't take advantage of that. I know you are a sunshine pumper but in reality if they don't turn the offense around it is going to be hard to beat ANYONE else, Our defense might be able to win a few games but they won't win the rest of them.
After a nights sleep with the help of muscle relaxers and pain pills I have had a change of mind alittle. I still think that its the coaches fault for this type of play calling. It is appearant that Jefferson can not run the line of scrimmage play calling. I place blame at Jefferson's feet in the way that he if he hasnt already step up and express to the coaches how uncomfortable he is running the offense that way. The coaches either needed to find someone that can run that gimmacky bullsh!t or allow Jefferson to play how he knows how to play.
That would be my assessment too. Let him roll out with quick dumps and an option to run. He needs to learn not to stop on the roll out thought cause the backside pursuit is coming.
Really, I think you might be judging Florida a bit too soon- at this point in the year they seem content to just smack a team around and win- last year they had to score a ton of points because they were behind the eight ball after the Ole Miss loss, this year they're #1 why should they open up the playbook if no ones going to get within 10 when they ball control it? It's not like they can't still drop a ton of points when they want to (see the 31-0 UK score following the 1st Quarter)- heck the two games where they were "shutdown" (UT and LSU) they punted once in each game.
well the Nobel Peace prize went to our beloved President Obama. :insane: I would have preferred Tebow get it, at least he does something for the sport.
Take our stats for total Off/Def so far this year and give them to another big time program in the country. Would you say they deserve to be in the top 10? I doubt it. I do agree the players are trying their A$$'s off. That's why I am putting the blame on the coaching. CLM, as much as I like him, looks lost. And therefore so does the offense. I haven't seen improvement yet this year Believe me I want to see this team succeed, and I too predicted we would go 10-2 or even 9-3. What I didn't predict is that our offense would be in the bottom 95% nationally and the defense in the botton 75%. Not with the players we have.
The fact is we should have scored and not a field goal. The coaching staff tucked their tails. You run on third and goal and you pass on 4th and goal against Florida in Death Valley.
