What about all the damn penalties in this game with false starts and offsides? That's coaching pure and simple.
The D was only fantastic from the standpoint that they only gave up 13 points. But as usual, they could not get off the field on 3rd down, and tonight added a new trick to the repetoir, that of negating numerous good plays with penalties. We died of self-inflicted wounds in every phase of the game tonight.
The false starts was the stupid calling the plays from the sideline!!!! Now the offsides on Alhem I have a problem with because of what I saw. Did anyone else notice that their center would place the football about half a yard to a yard in front of the line of scrimmage right before he snapped it so that EVERYTIME Alhem who was already in his stance was then offsides???
Execution is the problem. I mean, are y'all disgusted with the actual plays that were called OR the execution of the plays themselves? For instance, all we got to see tonight on offense were the running plays b/c every time we dropped back to pass, JJ swallowed the ball and the O-line looked porous. Maybe if we actually got to see the passing plays executed, we'd be pretty pleased with the play calling. I think the O is playing like a "Spring Game" offense, they can't execute and they look confused, even in lining up in the formation. Oh, and Florida's D is pretty dang good.
Now now everybody calm down. I just heard that we will be openning up the playbook against Tulane thats a pivatol game this season these little SEC matchups mean nothing. I'm just sick, I know 95% of us even the joy suckers felt we would prob lose this game at the beginning of the year. But even after all the suck outs and negativity of the season this year after last week seeing our defense step up you had to feel we had more than a fighting chance. Tonight comes and our D though giving up some long time consuming drives played very well and deffinately well enough to win. For those that want to argue that we have a young and inexperienced QB fine I will give you that, but our coaching staff is not young and inex. and they did not help him out tonight and exposed him. You had to know Florida saw our games this year and new 99% of our offense was played within 5 yards of the line and that Florida would come after JJ all night. Twice the camera catches your QB looking at the sideline saying "what, come on give me the play" just sad. So for those that like to ban those for thinking harshly on future millionaire kids I'm going to put the blame on the old men on the sidelines that could be my father who had not a vanilla game plan but NO game plan for Florida offensively. Not calling for anyones job just get your head out your ass this is the SEC not the big ten we play football here at least I thought we did
I am disgusted by the fact that when we run plays from the huddle we move the ball down the field AND When we call plays from the sideline we get penalties...sacks...and look like poo! When Jefferson comes out of the huddle with the play and runs it he looks GOOD. When the play clock is running down and he is waiting for the call to come in he looks frustrated and SO DOES the rest of the offense!
True. The reassessment thing, looking back to the sideline seems like a momentum killer. It seems to create more confusion than it takes advantage of the defensive personnel/formation. I say chunk that strategy altogether... And go two minute drill the whole game, with draws and screens sprinkled in ... That's when JJ doesn't have time to think, just plays quick!!
