agree they not only do not like JJ they have not bought into Les being Les they like the winning Les but not Les knows what he needs to do to run the team JJ thanks he got rail roaded a little and thinks he should be the starting QB ok come on people let this go JJ is not going to break down the team JJ is going to add to the pile and not take away from what we have going IMHO
What was he supposed to say? "I just want to help the ballclub"?. "I'm just going to take it one day at a time, and good lord willing, things will work out"? Of course he wants to start, and we should want him to. He's a kid and said how he feels. Had he said..."I am going to work hard, and help the team win in any way I can", we may have felt better about the comment, but it would have meant the same thing. This is all much to do about nothing. GO Tigers.
JJ is a football player, NOT a public speaker. Would you prefer someone who is glib or someone who is good? I trust Les Miles implicitly here, he is closer to the team and situation than anybody else in a position of authority. I am confident that he will choose the best player to take care of the job at hand. And keep the TEAM together.
The only controversy here is with the media and some fans. The coaches, the team and namely Lee and Jefferson don't have any issues.
He should look at other schools and probably would have done so anyway. Any fanbase would have had a few boo-birds call out if faced with the situation that occurred when JJ suddenly took the field for the goal line play. Any fanbase would have reacted in the same manner, given the situation, because all fanbases have a small minority of the kind of people who would boo in that situation. Most of the boo birds were probably drunk or buzzed anyway. My point is that all recruits are going to look at multiple schools. LSU isn't going to lose a recruit based only on what happened last Saturday. Perhaps Coach Miles should have more clearly articulated to the LSU fanbase that JJ is the back up and would take some snaps in special situations, perhaps near the goal line. But some boo birds would probably have booed anyway.
You're missing the point, while also not speaking for all fans. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK. We've won two :crystal::crystal:. We obviously can't win them every year. But I'm dumbfounded you're not pleased with 11-2 and a top-10 finish. No, the offense wasn't great and hasn't been for years, but it hasn't been JUST the QB. But still, 11-2. Our two losses were to the eventual champs and the team that represented the SEC in the Sugar Bowl. Neither of which were lost because of the QBs mind you. Be honest with yourself because our passing game is still not setting the world on fire and that is NOT an indictment on JL. There are other factors. But be honest. You're lack of nervousness about the offense isn't because it's great now. It's because the QB you want to start is starting. The fact is, we still have two pretty pedestrian QBs who would not likely start at any other top-tier SEC program. But they're our guys. They're our best options. They work hard and give us 100% effort. If it doesn't result in a :crystal: this year, that's okay. The sensible fan says thanks for the efforts guys. I know you gave your all. Good luck in your future. The cynical fan criticizes and rejoices over them being fone. These are the some of the same people that said JL should be playing over JJ because defenses stack the box with 8 defenders nearly every play to stop the run with JJ as QB. If JL was playing, they'd have to respect the pass. What happened? JL is starting and defenses STILL load the box with 8 guys. They don't do it because they don't respect the pass. They do it because we are perceived as a run-first team no matter who the QB is...at least until next year (maybe)... Some of you (not you in particular ONCE), sound like you've never played football. You don't understand team dynamics. You think strictly like a fan. What's sad is, the women on this forum, who have obviously never played competitive tackle football on a team, are more sensible than most of the men on this forum. And the other poster was right, we will lose recruits if we continue having displays like what we saw in the UK game. Jefferson being one, but I know of two others that were very turned-off by that "fan" display. One is still on the fence. The other, even though he was leaning elsewhere anyway, as of now is completely not coming. This is where fans matter the most outside of buying tickets. We don't have a say in who plays. But we have a lot of power with who comes to play!
This! We need the best QB in the game. If the team supports them both, then they both can be leaders. Beyond that, it then comes down to which one presents the best opportunity for winning NOW, not last year or the year before. Name, pedigree, past performance, opinions of fans and, most of all, race are all unimportant. I believe JJ will be used situationally and, eventually, he will be given the opportunity to pass the ball. If he can handle passing situations like JL has done so far this year - execute the reads, go through the progressions, avoid mistakes and complete as many passes, then his ability to run seems to make him the better choice. If JJ's the best QB, play him. If not, use him as needed. I trust CLM will make the right decision. :geaux:
I agree with the sentiment that "what I think, what you think, what twitter or message boards think DOESN'T matter." Whatever, injustice may be perceived by Miles getting JJ on the field does not really matter to me, and I don't THINK it is an issue with the team. But what concerns me is what is going to happen from a football perspective, and while opinions may differ, I feel that this team is better with Lee getting 95(ish)% of the snaps as the starting QB. I can understand JJ in short yardage/QB sneak situations, but I THINK the offense will be more productive with Lee on the field in all other scenarios. For those who want to see if JJ has improved, now is not the time. LSU is No. 1, about to enter the meat of SEC play, JL has proven he is improved and that he can win big games on the road, so ride with him. Could JJ be a world beater this year, yes, could he be better than Lee, yes anything is possible, but unfortunately, for him, now is not the time to find out. It may be unfair, but at the end of the day he made decisions that put him (and the team) in this situation. But at the end of the day, I am a fan, my opinion is just my opinion, and I will certainly cheer for whoever is on the field leading LSU to victory.
There is a HUGE IF here IF JJ has improved the way that Lee has, Now IS the time. Why wait for us to lose a game that we would have won because JJ was the better QB all along? Wouldnt make sense that way. He is back on the team, he is back in uniform, IF he is better he should play.
