    islstl,

    would appreciate your view.

I think we have a solid class w/ potential for many to be contributors in the future. We did miss out on the stars and that is regretable. Dwayne Thomas, Cory Thomson, Dieon Jones, and others appear to be young men with good character and future leaders. The OL prospects are sound. We have a QB that has good intangables in the leadership area.

I could have been better, but in my opinion, it is a good class.

Admittedly, I don't follow recruiting as zealously as a lot of people here. I don't completely understanding the various ranking services. For example, Rivals has us at 16 -- that seems hard to believe. Based on what I've been reading, LSU met its needs with this class, and I thought we did pick up some good recruits.

In any event, can someone explain the rankings, and why there is a disparity between different lists? I do know that Alabama has a connection with Rivals, so there's no surprise there as to why they're ranked first. I guess what I want to know is their class that much more superior to ours?

:geaux: No need to apologize. Just don't take the so-called recruiting experts, pundits and talking heads so literally. They don't know it all, although many of them think they do. :rolleye33: Bottom line is that the LSU Staff is much better at evaluating football talent than some asshat up at ESPN, Rivals, etc.

Now does that mean I'm just totally thrilled with this class? No. Do I wish we could have got the ones we missed out on? You betcha. But did this class meet a lot of team needs? Yes it did. Is there a lot talent & potential in this class? Sure is. Am I pissed like you are that the Alabastard's cleaned up? Damn straight. But when it's all said & done, a lot of the kids in this class are gonna make us proud in the next four years and I trust this staff to coach 'em up/get 'em ready. Let's give them a chance to show what they can do before we pass judgement on them. :LSU231:

you are not losing it. there were two threads with the same title and same op. the op appears to have deleted one thread so the one that went bye bye took your post with it.

Well this might not be a popular stance but I am not here to win friends I am here to discuss Tiger Football. Anyway you want to slice it what happened was disappointing, does that mean we don't have a good class no it does not but considering The top 4 recruits in Louisiana by Rivals "Collins, Devall, Davis & Peters" all signed out of state and 6 of the top 10 and 4 of the top 5 signed out of state. Personally I have not seen a year like that in a long time.

People can sugar coat that as much as you want but that is not the norm. Last year we signed 7 of the top 10 and all of the top 5 in state recruits. The year before again we signed 7 of the top 10 and 4 of the top 5 in state recruits. The year of 2009 we signed 6 of the top 10 and 4 of the top 5. So if you want to look at it simply on a comps basis "which of course if you look at previous posts they will all tell what a great job we did landing in state talent" this year we did not do what we have done in previous years and that is put a strangle hold on the top 10 talent.

I mean everyone was all stoked about signing Kwon Alexander and we lose Tashiro Davis we gain the number 20 outside linebacker but lose the number 8 outside linebacker, only time will tell but the numbers say that is a bad trade.

So was this our best performance, without a doubt 100% NO WAY. Did we fill needs hopefully so but the only way to get better at what we do is to be critical of what we have done!!!!! Fix the flaws so this does not happen again, and anyone who thinks we don't need to fix things and do a better job "when you are satisfied with your performance you are taking your first step back"

Thanks and you know the damdess thing? I swear I used Jacob Hester as an example of how we don't know JUST what we got...or didn't, yet, just as you did. What are the freakin chances of that?!?

No one is going to crucify you for your opinion. Do keep this in mind though, those "Top" recruits are determined by entitiies who make a living on "star ratings".

What I'd posted in the deleted thread was who knew Beckham or Mathieu on LOI day when they signed? On the other hand, we were licking our lips with C. Loston and R. Shepard. Which two would you take today? Even still, we were butt hurt with losing Joe M and look how that did not hurt us one bit- in fact, looking back, we may have been lucky to lose him.

I've seen more from "unknown" kids than I have from the high-profilers. Although this day may not be filled with excitement it's not a disappointment either. At least to me it's not.

Otha Peters in top 4? Don't agree with that at all.

I would have loved to have Davis stick in this class but basically we gained possibly our best LB prospect and lost a guy we would have given a shot at LB but eventually moved to DE so a project DE who would need a year or two to add some lbs.
