If you are joking you lost me. If you are not, how can you possibly degrade these kids who signed up to be a part of our family many away from home. There is nothing dissapointing about kids who get a chance to attend LSU and put on the purple and gold. If you are hung up on "rankings" might want to do some research its ranked in the top 10.
I don't think he was. Penn, are you trying to get back at the LSU fans cause some of us don't support Joepa? :tigereye:
:geaux: If that's how you feel, you'll love the article Dildeaux wrote today in the Shreveport Times. :dis: I posted it in a thread (Dildeaux's Take) just to see what people thought about it. I don't agree with it. IMO, we filled a lot of needs but we also missed out on a couple we'd like to have. Anyway, sounds like you feel like Dildeaux does. :LSU231:
i may get bashed for this, but... i dont see how everything has to be one or the other? either super awesome, or we might as well all jump off a bridge. were there some gaffs and misses this class? of course there were. i am a homer and i see that. one big one that is on the coaches and was a huge mistake, another a kid just flat out changed his mind at last minute (i think karma slapped us there), and a couple with kids being flat out deceitful. but we also filled some needs, including a big need for lb's. plus, this staff (love em or hate em) has had an eye for assessing talent. we have had some diamonds in the rough that turned into some incredible play makers. tm7, anyone? i am looking forward to see who those underrated guys are in this class, because no doubt there are some. and stars often dont mean a damn thing. jacob hester was a 2 star. rp was a 5 star. there are a lot of examples like that. but the fact of the matter is, we really wont be able to judge this class fairly until the players take the field in college competition. so the gaffs that were made, i hope the staff learns from, and i hope that maybe our new wr coach will bring in some strengths in recruiting, also. and for the ones we do have, i am gonna welcome them and be happy some needs were met, and believe that our coaches know a little something about talent. just as they have in the past. the ones we did get are not shabby. to say otherwise is just silly. are we starry eyed? no. did we get a solid class that meets needs? yes. i'm not pooping skittles, but you wont find me on a bridge, either.
I apologize first of all. I didn't have any agenda with my post. I guess with LSU's recent success and recent fantastic season I expected to see LSU in the top 5 of recruiting classes. Now, I admit I didn't follow it closely, and I did rely on ESPN's rankings for my information. I saw...LSU at 14th-15th nationally, and 4-5th in the SEC. It's not terrible at all. They picked up some great talent. Maybe i'm just pissed to see Alabama clean up.
Is this a good class? Sure it is, but that is only on the surface. This isn't a dig on any of the new recruits, God Bless everyone of them and I hope they all turn out to be superstars. The disappointment is that we are (or supposed to be) a top tier D1 program, just came off of a great season and we leave 3 phucking schollys on the table? Are you kidding me? I know we had some kids do a rope a dope and pull some shady stuff but come on. We should have kids lined up at the door waiting until the 11th hour to get an offer. Sure they won't be 5* kids but we just pulled off a self imposed 3 scholly punishment. You can call it what you want, you can paint it how you want, you can explain it away in words that may not have been discovered yet. I call it pitiful.
http://forums.tigerfan.com/lsu-recruiting/104514-rivals-top-5-recruiting-rankings-les-miles-era.html Doesn't include the 2012 campaign, but I thought it needed to be brought up for perspective.
