Nash had his best year, and deserved the award more this year than the past two times. Nowitzki as MVP is just laughable. 1. Nash Huge margin 2. Kobe 3. Lebron 4. McGrady 5. Nowitski
Agree completely. I kinda figured they wouldn't give it to him for the 3rd straight year though. Even though he deserved it. As a ball player, he's not viewed as being the same caliber as Bird, Chamberlin, and Russell (the only guys to win 3 in a row). Hell if Jordan never did it, no way they were going to give it to Nash. It's not Nash's fault Jordan had more competition for the award than Nash does.
You could make a case for any of those that you mentioned, no doubt. I just said LeBron b/c Nash has a GREAT supporting cast, and a decent coach. Although he probably deserved it, I think giving it to him 3 years in a row would essentially be trying to put him among the greatest ever. He's not that caliber of player, IMO. Kobe has a great coach and a little bit of a supporting cast. At least, a little more than LeBron. McGrady has a good coach in JVG, and he has Yao and a pretty good supporting cast. LeBron deserves it IMO b/c he turned that franchise around single-handedly....without a very good supporting cast and a coach that no one has ever heard of. ....BUT, like I said, you can make a case for any of them.
No, he's not that caliber of player, but he was the best player in the league this year. You talk about his supporting cast, but they just don't win when he's not in the line-up. When he is in the line-up, they were one of the 2 best teams in the league. Meaning he should have been the MVP. Like I said in my earlier post, it's not Nash's fault that Jordan, Bird, Magic, even Barkley had to compete with each other for MVP's, while Nash is separting himself from a watered down league. IMO not giving it to him is penalizing him just because all these other guys played at the same time as each other.
