Collins flat out wanted to go elsewhere. It happens. Not because he hates the hometeam, but he fell under Saban's spell. It happens. I said it early on, but Devall was never coming here, despite what any pundits said. He entertained the offer because he's a respectful guy and believe it or not, he does like his homestate school. He simply did not want to play with his hand in the dirt. At 6'2 240, and fast enough, but not that fast, he simply does not fit the mold of a Chavis LB, hence, he knows he would've been moved to DE, a la Justin Maclin. He doesn't have the frame to be effective 15 pounds lighter. If we played a style of defense more suitable to a LB his size, he would've committed when the offer was first made. Furthermore, if A&M had not fired Mike Sherman, he would've honored his commitment there. Trust me! Know the kid and his family well. For the style of player he wants to be, he would've been stupid to pass up the opportunity to go play for Saban. Styles made this decision. Not Miles. Davis played games. Shame on him. He's got karma coming to him. BUT, it's not like we haven't had our share of signing day switches, so that karma bug basically came back to bite us. It happens! Peters, not sure about. But believe it or not, every kid in Louisiana doesn't grow up wanting to play for LSU. Especially black kids, which is mostly what we're recruiting. In 10 years, I seriously doubt this happens because by then we'll be a full generation removed from black fathers in Louisiana that dislike LSU. And trust me, they were plentiful. My own father was one of them. I personally could've cared less about LSU in the late 80s, early 90s when I was growing up. It was Florida State all the way. Then that fateful night in 97 happened and I witnessed Tiger Stadium take down #1 Florida...and it was all she wrote from then on. Everyone falls in love for different reasons. It's not always entrenched. Sorry for the long diatribe, but I needed to get it out. The wheels are not falling off. This is an anomaly. Not the norm. And this is a damn strong recruiting class. Duck Fildeaux!
:geaux: You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to asignupe99 again. Great post. :thumb: :LSU231:
What are you a stalker? Wow impressive that you have so much time to keep up with everyone's tigerfan.com habits. Miles has never really impressed me much from an X's and O's coach. As a CEO type aka....Mack Brown he is above average. Let's face it he is as good as his coordinator's are, and the hot bed of recruiting that is Louisiana. He is not the one responsible for the recruits staying in Louisiana---that all started with Dinardo and Saban. Funny if you get the best players in the state, and have some brilliant asst's your record is going to be pretty good. He really messed this year up by causing some sort of team blowup. You can watch the game again and see "no" passion between the players. He is not above an explanation to LSU's fan base. I believe most of us could have taken a well played game even with a loss. The one that we saw was inexcusable.
SaintSlidell - I don't know if I would go that far. We don't know about the team blowup that is all rumor who knows how much of that is true. I personally feel the team saw what EVERYONE saw and that was OUR GAME PLAN THAT MILES WAS IMPLEMENTING SUCKED. And Miles was to stubborn to try and adjust. To me it looked like the team felt the same way that if they stuck to what they had been doing they were destine to fail and that deflated them because Miles has a tendency to be very stubborn and I feel all his players know that. But he did a great job of getting us to 13-0 and you have to credit him because he was our leader, just like you have to lay the blame on him on the loss on the victories you have to give him the credit. I too am not a big fan of Miles as an X & O coach and truly hopes he finds an OC that can bring out all of our talent on offense because we all know we have some.
Not his X & O's! (His asst. coaches) Say what you will, Les is not a offensive or defensive genius. In fact he looks more like a deer in the headlights. Want to talk about time management or being to stubborn to change a game plan, or fighting with his players before the NC game. That's fine. There was something terribly wrong in that game. Just ask the top recruits that dismissed us after the game. Please just watch the players. They gave up before the first snap.
A month to prepare! We ran the ball the first time on their home field. Game plan. No way!!!!! Just watch the players!!!!
And yet another derailed thread. Why does EVERY SINGLE THREAD end up being about someone's bent feelings towards Les Miles? Newsflash: Nobody gives a sh*t about your feelings. :dis:
No brah, I don't speak for him, but I'm quite sure that a Division 1 college football coach has a hell of a lot more things to worry about than a random internet character on a message board.
