They play a lot of freshmen, but I'm pretty sure they don't START 18 of them.

A player is only a "starter" for one play in a game. We do not "start" 18 freshmen. But we do PLAY 16 freshmen every game and they "play" a significant role to where they could costs us games if they screw up enough. I never in my wildest dreams thought we'd be 10-0 and playing in the SEC title THIS year. Too many young'uns and still enough significant issues from previous regimes to workout to have that type of thinking. But I'll take it.

He's already more than earned and been worth the 4 million dollar investment. I can't predict next year because I thought we'd be 8-4 at best this year and we see how that turned out. He has cleaned the meddling trash out of our football program that needed to be done A LONG LONG time ago.

And by the way. Currently there isn't a "great coach" in the SEC. There are a lot of very good ones but none presently qualify as "great". Spurrier's body of work will eventually merit him being a great coach but he currently isn't no where near what he was a UF.

Well he did say right before the season started that the qb situation at LSU was the worst he has seen in a long, long time.

Point 1. When Bama goes 9-3 or 8-4 next year, will it still be worth it? I mean...what is expected for 4 mil per year?

Point 2. I am just going by the national fawning/media love fest for Saban.:thumb:

Look around at other high profile coaches and their salaries compared to the expectations of the program they work for. Bama's expectations aren't any different and the salary Bama is paying falls in the same market. We want to win consistently and be put in a position to win the BCSNC consistently. People will paint with the brush they want to and paint a picture of what they want to see. If you think that if Nick goes 8-4 or 9-3 next year and Bama fans will be calling for his head you're nuttier than what you accuse Bama fans of being.

We should put Finebaum and Gilbeaux in the same room and let them have a write off.

I would suggest a different verb.
