Actually, it is the largest of the big 3, only slightly larger than social security, but still the largest.

And part of the problem with it is we are spending billions to keep bases with a garrisons of 12 in Elk Fuck North Dakota open. There is so much inefficiency and poor administration that it is literally disgusting,

Hmmmm. Well . . . the tax cuts for the rich was Bushcare, so I couldn't call it that. Romneycare was the health law in Massachusetts. No . . . I suppose it would have been Palincare.

What you call inflexibility I call resolve and conviction. By compromise I suspect you really mean surrender. If compromise has gotten us to this stage, I'd like to try something else.

The Bush tax cuts were for more than the rich.

What are you talking about? Gridlock is what has led us to this stage. Obama compromised away "single-pay" and "universal coverage" and added things desired by republicans in the health bill and it did not result in a single Republican vote. The Tea Party overtly earned their obstructionist reputation when they stonewalled the Debt Ceiling agreement and caused the nations credit rating to be dropped. It is clear to the voters who will be flexible and who will NOT in the next election.

Inflexibility is the biggest problem with the "my way or the highway" Republican philosophy. This country is very even divided between right and left and has been for decades but the GOP imagines that they can just implement everything on their agenda and nothing that helps the other half. Their uncompromising stance is hurting them badly with moderates. And they can't win without the moderates.

Obama had to compromise with the moderates in his own party. Republicans largest proposals, things which directly effect healthcare cost, like tort reform and expansion of HDHPs were never considered. Republicans presented 3 alternative bills to AHCAA. None got anywhere.

This is not a Republican Philosophy and to define it as such is dishonest. Again, liberal Democrats who wanted universal healthcare and single payer options had to compromise with moderate Democrats, not Republicans.
