True, but they can run the entire economy.

Then until the government shows some semblance of thrift, I'm firmly against any tax increases.

Not entirely. Without proper regulation we get situations like the housing bubble and the mortgage crisis and the Wall Street banking crisis. Runaway greed is a common by-product of industry regulating itself.

Then who ya' gonna vote for? Neither party will fight the bull.

I have no idea what you think this proves.

In fact, we need about 20, which is what we have and even then they spend most of their time idle. The military is guilty of wasteful spending, holding onto WWII bases no longer needed, gold-plating certain weapons systems and preparing for the last war instead of the next one. We could cut the military budget by a quarter without reducing its effectiveness or capability. We could cut it by a third without endangering our security.

We defeated the Soviet Union by military outspending them into economic collapse. We can defeat ourselves by doing the same thing.

A lot of ideology here. I'd argue that government regulation serves to limit a select company's exposure to competition and therefore to empower it to act monopolistic-ally. Far from doing good, government-imposed economic regulations put power precisely into the corporate hands it hopes to restrain. This is what happened with the Interstate Commerce commission.

The republicans. Most of them refuse to raise taxes under any circumstances.

    Speaking of ideology . . .

Republican inflexibility is not pragmatic and will be their eventual downfall. People are more and more expecting Congress to compromise and get some work done. Knee-jerk Republican stepping to the Tea Party tune are responsible for most of the gridlock.

My sarcastic response of "shocker" was meant to indicate I'm not surprised that you have no idea what I think this proves. Not trying to trick anyone.....

You have answered why we are the baddest mother fuckers on the planet.

    AMERICA FUCK YEA!

But really, the defense budget is the smaller of the big 3.

Should be cut, but not more than the other two.

We have taken the role of enforcing peace. I know this sounds fucked up, but the biggest guns create the best peace. It is when you send trained killers to be police of a leaderless country that it makes us look weak.

A few trained SF's and some nice tactical nukes would have done the job just fine.

"Hey guys, the tea party wont vote for Democratic things and we Democrats won't vote for their shit b/c they are wrong so the Tea-party are all radicals and promote gridlock. "

    Knee-jerk huh buddy?

What do you call the health care bill? What would you call it if it was all Republican votes and no Democrats?
