Did you think our D-line looked elite?

Next week is a national TV game against a major non-conference opponent. The fire will be lit.

I'm not making excuses because I expected a lot more from both sides of the ball, but North Texas did have some pretty stout lineman on both sides of the ball. I know its N. Texas and an elite program like LSU should blow them off the ball and thats what I expected to see. But they were not pushing around some undersized guys. I don't know what they list them as in the program but watching them before the game without pads they looked pretty stout and in shape. Our guys just didn't seem to have too much fire for 60 minutes. They only rose to the occasion when needed. I hope we look at lot better next week because Washington will throw it all over the field and we will need much more pressure on the qb and better coverage from our secondary. Even the vets didn't look all that impressive in the secondary.

I agree and think the storm also has a little to do with that. And of couse Les keeps injuries close to the vest. Two of our OL missed a good portion of fall camp. Let's hope they stay healthy.

Probably not, but they might be the best second-string D-Line in the country.

That's a bet you'd lose. I wouldn't say it unless it had been said to me.

Well, yeah I would. That still doesn't change what I said earlier about NFL scouts.

I don't know about them being the 2nd best D-Line in the country, but they are certainly the best 2nd-string, and truthfully, our 2nd string is at least a top-10 unit overall. We can sub those guys in with no drop-off in play. No fear. No other team can do that...not even the gumps. They just have such a great O-Line that it nullifies even the greatest of D-Lines. Credit where credit is due, Bama might be lining up an all-time great O-Line. We're gonna need our D-Line to play the game of their lives on 11/3.

That preseason list is a bunch of bullshizz. That was an exercise in spreading the wealth among 14 teams, and it recognizes individuals, not units. As those same coaches to rate the units and our second unit will rate extremely high. They didn't even have Bennie Logan on the frickin list AT ALL. List FAIL. I'm gonna stop now before I talk myself into what MLU posted. I'm really close, lol.

Still . . . he didn't register a single tackle, assist or sack. That's not exactly an All-American performance.

teams play to their opponents level. when you are destroying a team that is your inferior on every level, it probably isnt worth investing 100% effort.

if you are dominating your opponent so bad at 100% effort that the Christian/humane thing to do is lower your effort to a level where you are still dominating them, but in a much less humiliating fashion, then yeah

for ex, if you wrestle a person half your size, you're not going to give 100% effort, just enough effort to dominate him without humiliating him too badly

with LSU, however, our D-line wasn't able to get a single sack, and of the 8 guys in our "supposedly among the very best in the country" 2-deep, they were only able to record 2 TFL (Mingo got one, Freak got the other)

that is not good against a team the Sun Belt coaches voted would finish 3rd-to-last in the Sun Belt

and that was also embarrassing to see them run over our D-line for positive yards 7 straight plays in a row...I hope I never see another team do that to us again in a long time
