All Don did was express his "feeling" that a third team may be in the picture not that a third team "is" in the picture. If you read his post his opnion is based upon the uncertainty at QB next year for LSU and Bama. He may be wrong but his opinion is at least logical.
Sounds to me hes guessing. Lets look at the facts: Alabama runs a more pro style offense, that has a lot of 2 wide receiver sets. They like to play power Football just like LSU and are more run than pass right now. They have a fairly mediocre QB right now starting, which can't be good for the future of next year, unless someone develops incredibly. So they have QB concerns too, with almost no experience behind JPW. LSU runs a semi-spread/pro style offense. I think this is MUCH MUCH more wide open offense than Alabama. The only reason we've seen so much running and conservative playcalling is because of Lee. So, we have our QB concerns. Randle has to understand, that Lee will at least have 1 year under his belt, is still young and will develop with him. Not to mention the prospect of RS and the other QBs developing with him. The entire, he'd be a beast alongside JJ as a amazing duo receiving core could have a argument for LSU too. Its not like LSU has been recruiting cupcakes at receiver, especially with all the spread sets. Who are you going to double and triple in a 4/5 WR set? LSU also runs the Wildcat, which I think is absolutely perfect for RR, especially with his throwing ability. PERFECT for a change of pace Wildcat formation, with a surprise throw. I think its pretty safe to say, if hes looking for a more wide open offense, LSU is a better bet than Bama at this moment. However, Saban could be trying to use this down year as a negative on us somehow. RR seems like a smart kid, we'll see how it rolls out. I wouldn't be surprised to see a third school enter it but I think LSU leads right now. If Lee shows progression like he did against Troy for the rest of the season, I think hes ours to lose.
Rueben won't be giving this serious thought until we win the championship (again) or lose in the playoffs. After that, I still wouldn't expect much in the way of announcements until the Army All-American game. The rumor mill will certainly gain momentum after the playoffs...
Furthermore, if he wanted wide open, he would have Oklahoma and Texas Tech and even Florida at the top of his list. This is pure speculation. And gely, NOBODY around the crib seems to think he's going to choose LSU...not even the homers at the golf course.
If he wants to be a Tiger he should commit as soon as possible to help shore up the class. If he's still unsure then that's his right. As with McKnight I think you have to take the rumors seriously and kind of plan on him committing elsewhere. If he happens to commit then make room. I'm just wondering how someone who was considered such a lock by everyone is now actually considering going out of state.
i know nupe im pretty sure we are done from what i have heard . LSU lost mcknight now we may lose randle all in a 3 yr spand that hurts. I have not heard anything that would consider him a lean and i do mean NEVER. I dont think ge is going to bama either watch MIAMI
Thing with McKnight and Rueben are different. McKnight wasn't an LSU fan in the least bit. It was a pipe dream to keep him, especially when he said numerous times, I'm not coming and I want to get away. In the dome that year he said "LSU ain't gettin me" multiple times. Rueben actually likes LSU and feels some degree of committment to the homestate team. That alone might be the biggest bargaining chip...
