Also, Why has no one else picked up on the story? No other news source has run with the basic story? So the story was pulled, that does not stop ESPN or CNNSI from interviewing the girl that worte the story. You don't think guilbeau would sell his first born to get the story?

 

probably because rachel whittaker didn't have a reliable second source. i bet that those big networks are working on it. it just may not be a priority since LSU has already admitted that there is something fishy going on. this is all just speculation by me. i don't know anything to the contrary...

it doesn't matter what mccarthy did, only that he did something. LSU already said that it concerned a student athlete that hadn't played, so no forfeiture of games would be necessary anyhow. which, by the way, is why i'm surprised that the reveille didn't just run with the original story. there must have been enough evidence for the paper to originally print the story, in case of having to disprove a libel suit. i would think that enough evidence is on-hand to prove, in a round-about way, the accuracy of the article.

i just don't see it as such a "big story." LSU has already admitted that there were violations... the information that the reveille ran seemed like a legit story to me. if the writer had inside information, what would have kept her from going straight to ESPN in the first place? that's what i would have done. or maybe she tried? who knows?
