Rivals has long been suspected of padding the books when it comes to rating bama recruits and doing team rankings. This provides fodder to support that belief. http://www.fanblogs.com/alabama/008029.php
This had been resolved at some point. The guy who made the spreadsheet made an incorrect calculation.
That was the guy from TD who came up with 40 points that were wrong. The guy who did this calculation for all the teams in the top 25 came up with the 44 number. Either way, I don't care. We will be #1 when the enrolled rankings come out and that doesn't matter. The real determination will be made in 4-5 years.
Agreed. At some point, you have to have more faith in your coaches than in the recruiting services. PT, Auburn did quite well for an extended period under Tubby, without top 10 recruiting classes. He must have had an eye for talent, and developed it once it enrolled. There are studies that show that good recruiting classes yield good rankings in 3 or 4 years. There is something to it, they can spot the great ones, usually. I think if we take the top 5 classes this year, LSU, USC, Texas, Bama, Ohio St., I view them as all EQUAL. They are all good. Things that will tell the difference in a few years: how well the coaches develop the talent, and character issues and who can keep most of their recruits academically qualified and out of jail. Ask us, when you suffer a Perrilloux, it can really hurt a season. Thanks for the visit, and we look forward to meeting next season. Auburn is always a highlight of the year.
The way I see it the recruits that chose LSU are now Tigers, which makes all of them #1, enough said.
Who cares if Rivals plays games with arbitrary prospect ranking numbers to make Bama appear to be better than LSU wrt recruiting. What they can't do is fudge thing so that Bama does not their arses handed to them by LSU on the field.
clearly they screwed us. it was expected and was inevitable. we are only shocked we didnt drop further. luckily, it doesnt matter.
