I think with what we were lacking in Steele we made up for it with coach O. Recruiting just got a whole lot better tho and who knows Steele may look like a genius when he has the athletes to use like we get here.

LSU has the athletes to allow Steele to win for the next two seasons (which includes good recruiting by Coach O, Steele and Wilson). After that, Steele will have to earn his money and be able to coach. Only time will tell. I worry about the Offense (QB position) next year more than our Defense.

Someone has to come up with defensive philosophy, individual game plans and call defenses each play. Faaaaaaar too many unknowns at this point to call it an upgrade or not with Steele at DC. I think enough is known about Yaw yaw and Haley to call that a positive, but Steele coaching LB and being DC carries more weight.

The same coach who let us get beat 41-7 by Auburn this year. My point is that lots of people are looking at Steele's 70 point loss at Clemson as the reason why he's not a good DC even though he's had some top 20 defenses in his past. No matter how good the coach is, he could have a bad day, the players could have a bad day, they could get jumped on early and give up.

New blood, new fire, new resolve is better than "third and Chavis" or "how to go 99 yards in sixty seconds or less". Here's to 2015!

I voted no, but that is strictly based on game day and game plan coaching. I based it strictly on past performance between Steele led defense versus Chavis led defense. The best year statistically for Steele is near the middle to bottom of Chavis' defensive statistics.

Now we have improved our recruiting but that can be such an iffy thing from year to year that it is hard to know how much impact they will have in 2015.

I am hoping that they prove me wrong.

It is far too soon to tell. Ultimately the season will let us know if Steele is an upgrade or not from Chavis. On paper he isn't but maybe this he is right person for LSU and wasn't right in his other stops.

No doubt that Coach O is an upgrade. That is no disrespect to Brick, who was a solid coach. O is the best DL coach out there.

With O and Wilson LSU has arguably the best pair of recruiters on one team.

So you discredit his Cherry pick by submitting your own? Steele's sum to date is way below 3rd and Chavis and that's not b/c he's a spring chicken.
