Better recruiters, no more 3rd and Chavis (hopefully not replaced with 3rd and Steele), hopefully a better combination of Xs and Os (Steele) and hands on (Orgeron) than Chavis/Brick. Chavis didn't want to be here anymo, Steele and Orgeron do.
Orgeron is the sugar that helps the bitter pill go down. I see an uptick in recruiting. Hopefully a return to bigger defensive linemen and LBs. A vast improvement in player swagger, passion and enthusiasm on the field. Whether this ends up being a net improvement or not is yet to be seen. Hard to answer this one yes or no without some qualifications.
Like I have said before, never "got" the chief. We had some fine defenses but we had some heartbreaking occurrences of not being able to make the stop. Way to many of the later.
There is a trend here for folks to say wait and see results. No...take a firm stand based on rumor, innuendo, and gut feel. That is how it works.
There really should be a "push" option here. I think we improved in some areas and other areas I think we might regress. Hard to say with either of these guys coaching a down in purple and gold.
After mulling this transition over for the last 48 hours, I am more convinced this is an upgrade. Recruiting, Xs & Os, and hopefully scheme will all result in an overall better defensive product. I'm hoping for throwback Tiger defensive stands that win games, rather than the recent sitting back and allowing an opponent to come from behind and beat us at home stances. Chavis is gone. Time to let his best friend lead us to the promise land!
I voted yes, but really don't know until the product comes out on the field. If we can learn how to tackle and pressure the qb, I think we will be successful. I never liked Chavis bend don't break defense, I am more of a pressure type defensive scheme. It is proven if you give any offense too much time, except ours, they will hurt you.
