According to Dandy Don , John Brady said publicly that Les Miles won a national title only because the Tiger football team played a weak schedule in 2007. I can't find this statement anywhere on the Internet. Can someone confirm it? And if it is true, what a dweebie thing to say! Also, I wish people would stop clamoring for Bob Knight to be LSU's next hoops coach. The man is a disgrace to the species. :tigereye:
Earlier in the week he said something along the lines of "We schedule tough opponents, unlike the football team that only wants to schedule dummies."
while it's no doubt a sensitive subject and the 2 sports are drastically different, the men have played rugged schedules in the past. So what he is saying is true. There just was no reason to say it.
So you actually believe the football team's schedule was weak or am I misunderstanding what you're saying?
I took it as a knock against the footall progam in general, not against Miles. It has somewhat been blown out of proportion because Brady did not have any goodwill left with the LSU fanbase. Any insult, perceived or real, was going to blow up in his face.
Not the "Schedule" per se, Brady was referring to OOC games. Just no reason, in Brady's position, to take a shot at our football program. LSU thrives on a "Team" spirit. Coaches should support one another. Pearl & Patricia Sue epitomize that but even when football coaches attend bball games, vice versa, and show support, it's a classy thing and shows solidarity.
Brady said the men's team seeks out to play a great OOC schedule. They do. The football team doesn't. It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, because basketball is far, far different than football in terms of when and where you can afford to lose a few games. A better example would have been "Ole Miss is scared to play anyone anybody has ever heard of." Because their men's team plays 14 cupcakes before conference play. I understand what he was saying. I just don't think it needed to be said.
One of those things you dont say out loud, but the guy was trying to save the job he loved. Who cares. And it was truthful.
