You guys need to relax. Miles and staff are playing everyone everywhere and winnowing down the best of each. They are evaluating what and who works best and in what situation.

I don't believe that at all. These first 3 games were meant to fool the opposition. No way I believe that in a million years. The teams has problems in specific crucial areas and they are trying to cover it up with there play calling. I don't believe that by Georgia the staff is all of a sudden going to open it up and let loose all these weapons we have. That stuff takes time and it has to be built not only in practice but in actual game time situations. If these problems like running the football better and getting more pressure from the Dline come to fruition, then maybe we start seeing a different offensive philosophy. But for me to believe this is all smoke and mirrors, no not buying that. But I will gladly eat all the crow in the world in 2 weeks after Georgia if proven wrong.

Bhelm, I read somewhere that LSU made a mistake with Hicks in evaulating him and that he doesnt have what it takes to cut it.
I dont remember where I read it. Is this true?

You don't think LSU can beat Georgia?

His comments on being one of the voters for the Coaches Poll were interesting:

--he doesn't watch other teams play so he has no real idea of how good they are, and that all he does is look at their list of their scores and their records when voting. And like he said later, LSU's ranking and the ranking of our opponents means zero to him this early in the season.

--he gives preference to SEC teams because the SEC is a much tougher conference

--he gives preference to his personal favorites in other conferences, voting them up two or three places higher than he normally would -- I assume that includes Michigan for sure, and maybe other teams he has coached for like Oklahoma State.

    Not true at all.

He was getting a ton of reps and leading the true freshman for playing time in the Spring (even or slightly ahead of Downs). He went down with his injury and has struggled to get back to where he was. Some have said he lost some motivation/frustration. Now with the flu and not being able to practice, he must be even more frustrated.

I assume the staff is waiting to see what kind of progression he can make when he returns. From there they will have to decide if he should get a redshirt(which he is still eligible for). That may make sense at this point since he is a JUCO and already missing 3 games is not a way to get the most of 2 years of playing time.

I don't listen to every one of his pressers, but I remember last season we had some fans on here that were extremely furious with how Les wouldn't say anything bad about the team at press conferences. They had these examples of how Les was saying good things about the team, even after our losses... and this infuriated them.

Sure, others were telling these people that Les didn't feel like criticizing his team in public, that it didn't mean he's pleased with their performance--obviously. And yeah, it was obviously silly of these people to think that just because Les wasn't pointing out his displeasure with the team's performance that it meant that Les was cool with the level of play and that he wasn't going to do anything about it.

But I do remember thinking that Les should just appease these people by pointing out at the press conference what they want to hear... and that's what he did this time.

People aren't happy about the team's performance last year, people aren't thrilled about how we looked in our last three games, people are unhappy with our O-line play against ULL, people are unhappy with how JJ wasn't hitting his deep passes against ULL, people don't just want us to be good, but great... etc, etc. And Les pointed out that he feels the same way on all this.

Should be obvious to everybody, even without him having to spell it out for us. But it was nice to see him spell it out for those people that don't get that... to keep them from whining as much... because their negative whining does nothing to help LSU as a program, especially when it comes to recruiting.

While I'm worried too about a simplified offense, what exactly do you want Miles to do? JJ certainly doesn't have the touch on the deep balls yet so we can't rely on that.

Miles basically HAS to rely on I formation, pound the ball football. It might not be the best option out there, but it's one of the few we got.

Would you rather JLee get the start for Jawga if JJ doesn't improve his pass (which I highly doubt will happen)?

Personally, I think we need more I-form right now. We need that lead blocker. I would rather see a true FB doing it, but if Charles Scott can crack some skulls up the middle to open up those running lanes for KW, I'll take it.
