Gotta say, all this discussion about finding liquor stores (or any place to buy beer) is so foreign to us here back home in LA. But I'm familiar with it too - my former LSU roommate moved to Mesquite in the early 80's and then later relocated his family to Plano, so I've experienced those beer-hunting trips with him myself. It was quite a culture-shock to us! Y'all have fun! :geaux:
That took some getting used to for me, too. Plano has beer and wine sales (but not before noon, I found out one Sunday morning when I was buying for a Super Bowl party.) Liquor is a different matter altogether, as the perception is that towns which sell liquor are "seedier." We have to go to The Colony for liquor.
I live in Dallas and I've never had a problem finding a liquor store. It's just the fact that they close at 9 that really sucks.
I remember my shock and anger when I moved here right out of school. To me, it seemed illegal that they could limit the sale of legal beverages. This was before I knew where the Colony was and we would have to go down to Addison. That was a scene on weekend nights.
Yes, I used to hang out in Addison on Thursday nights a bunch when I was a single girl living in Dallas.
man - I am a little bummed now because I will be in Austin the weekend of this game, and not McKinney. This sounds like a lot of fun!
