Yeah I can't believe people think Devine wouldn't get playing time here lol. Guys, this guy is a huge huge talent. If we got him we'd probably give the ball to Keiland and then Devine would get the ball about 10 times a game rushing and 5 times a game receiving in his first year. His speed and vision is just incredible.
Certainly his grades may be an issue and we are loaded at RB at the moment, but after watching some of his highlights, even my jaw dropped. It's like watching a greased pig run! He bounces off people, breaks tackles, or just outright makes guys lose their jockstraps by sidestepping them. It may be a stretch to compare him to Barry Sanders, but watching a looooooong highlight of literally dozens of similar runs(there are several on youtube), leads you to believe that this is the norm and not a fluke. The only thing that I am left wondering about is the level of competition that he played against. I admit to knowing very little about this kid, much less the teams he played for and against. Is he just looking good against smaller guys??
Sorry ot burst everyone's collective bubble here, but the word is Devine is heading toward prep school (JUCO) for two reasons: 1)Grades 2)I remember reading somewhere he was suspended the last couple of games this year for cursing out his coach, or something of that nature.
This is correct, and is not really even news. I read this on rivals in probably early December. He was also involved in a fight, which may be the reason for #2. Not sure about cursing out his coach, but we don't need him. Some have said I shouldn't feel that way just because of one fight, but it's a sure sign of trouble, and a troublemaker, when combined with the fact that he must go to prep just to get his grades up. He obviously doesn't make good choices, and that is a character trait that we don't need...see Cecil Collins. The article Tiga posted above is heartwarming, but it does nothing but prove that bad choices are a pattern with this kid. I'm sympathize with him for his lack of upbringing, but it doesn't take away the truth. I wish him well in life...at FSU.
