Why doesn't the NCAA allow schools with players projected to be first round picks to pick up the tab for significant insurance policies for the bowl games? It won't happen. It makes too much sense.
How much of a policy? Greedy is projected to be the 5th pick in the draft. That slot comes with a contract and bonus with a total value of somewhere between $25 and $30 million. If a player can play at a high level and stay healthy for 10 years he is looking at lifetime earnings of over $100 million. For example Patrick Peterson signed his second contract for a total value of $70 million. It's likely that before he retires he will sign another multi-million dollar contract.
I don't think it would be 100% of the projected contract value. That's for the NCAA and financial experts to determine.
