We stayed at Summerwinds. That was my first time to Navarre, but I think I'll be going back. It's SO hassle-free compared to Destin (not to mention a shorter drive). I think I know the condos you're talking about. My uncles went and looked at one in that building that is owned by Anne Rice. It's over 4,000 sq. ft. and completely state-of-the-art. They want to stay in it next year. Was the water full of seaweed/algae when you were there? It was like the all but one or two of the days we were down there. We actually got there on the 4th and it was like that. I went into Destin once and stopped at Santa Rosa beach (between Destin and Ft. Walton) and it was the same way there. But that pic that XXL posted shows it looking pretty nice. I guess we just got unlucky?
Dude...this is CRAZY. I was in Destin during the 4th, too. The crazy part is...you can see my condo building in your picture that you took while parasailing. My in-laws own a few condos at Dolphin Point (illustrated below) and have owned them for years and years. This is where we stayed. I brought the family down to the beach at the bottom of the picture. It was really nice. LSU fans were in full force down there, but I saw alot of Georgia, Arkansas, and Bama fans down there. Thanks for the picture. That was a pretty crazy suprise.
Very uncluttered which is why I like it so much there and everything is pretty close like Pensacola about 10 mins and Destin only 20 minutes or so away. My parents condo is a floor or two above Ann Rice's and they became pretty good friends which is strange because my parents are very religious. But come to find out she found God recently and decided to get away from the Vampire novels and started to write a series of novels about Jesus' life which is why she moved because if you saw the condo it has a gothic feel. She torn down the wall and it is actually 2 condos. The movies are sure to follow but my parents got an early copy and said they were great. No algae when we were there but it does pop up every now and then. Some of it has to do with the recent restoration process after the hurricane a few years back. The water came up to the about 40 or so yards in front of the building before that. Here is a site from a Bama fan who lives out the condos. He has cameras set on top of the building to check out the areas at the condo and across Navarre. http://www.navarrebeachlife.com/stationary_navarre_cam2.html Edit: Ann Rice's condo has been redecorated because the goth look wouldn't sell. http://www.annerice.com/NewOrleans-RealEstate.html
Too funny.......................going to PCB for the kids on Labor Day weekend. I have been doing some digging and plan on doing a week at Mexico Beach next year. Mexico Beach dot Com
