I was wondering when anything would be mentioned about this. At the time, people were speculating that Herstreit's "source" was, in fact, Desmond Howard. Is he practing CYA protocol there?
I dont think he is practicing CYA protocol, Howards position doesnt hold much weight with Herby. I seriously doubt Herby would have ran with that, just on the word of Howard
I would doubt it, too, if Herby actually took a journalism class while at OSU (I don't know whether he did or didn't), but there was, at the time, widespread speculation that Howard was Herby's source--that's why I suggested that Howard was doing a little CYA and, subsequently, throwing Herby under the bus. Now, of course, Howard is more than justified in throwing Herby under the bus if he was NOT the source. I seem to recall Herstreit suggesting, at some point, that it was Howard.

i would tend to agree with you, but do you really break that news on the day of the SEC cg?? it's not a popular viewpoint here, but i think the only thing that kept miles here was getting LSU to the nat'l championship. he was stuck. but after winning the NC, getting all the adoration, and the money to go with it, this isn't a bad place to be stuck.
