I don't disagree with any of this. Just with the Twisted notion that Les Miles knows nothing about offense. I mean come on.

I think the offense this year has been handicapped by the capabilities of our quarterbacks, just like in 2008, when we lost three quarterbacks and had to play two freshmen. Sure, Les and Cameron could have had a better plan . . . and they could have had a worse one. It is what it is. We play in the extremely rugged SEC West, where the worst team just posted back to back shutouts of ranked teams. We will take some losses in a rebuilding year in the SEC West.

Les certainly understands O. He just chooses to ignore logic. I fully understand holding back some on the playbook with an inexperienced QB who is playing scared. However you still have to coach to win. You still have to air it out some.

The big issue here is that Les is too stuck on AJ as QB. Harris is supposedly getting practice reps but zero PT. I can not see their practice play but the game play I've seen Harris has looked better. Sure he may not have the grasp that AJ has but he is willing to throw the ball. AJ is too reluctant to throw on time when a receiver is breaking and open. He also does not have a good pocket feel. Fact is Miles has not done a good job with QB's

Interesting read COTiger, and thanks for posting it. I'm sure the writer did his research, but his assessment that Louisiana does not produce many college level QBs in high school seems off the mark. However, lets assume for a moment he is correct.

We know most high schools these days run a version of the spread offense (whether it is predominately the run or pass spread), so it is likely your best quarterbacks in the state are running the spread in high school. If they are a 2-3 year starter in high school then they are comfortable running the spread.

What I do not understand is putting them into the "I" formation most of the time and trying to coach them up to be dropback passers. That is my concern with our LSU coaching staff. It seems our coaches would do a better job of adapting our offense to the strengths of the quarterbacks we have.

I'm admittedly disappointed in our offense this year, and I have to put at least as much blame on Cameron as on Miles. I understand that the qb position effects an offenses ability to move the ball & score quite a bit but I don't believe the play calling has been up to par.

I think Cam could have called much more creative routes, bubble screens, screens to Fournette & McGee.

Perhaps he did and was overruled.

I don't believe Miles gets involved in every down play calling like that.

Perhaps I should have made it clearer. I was addressing overall offensive philosophy/strategy.
