They are also going to say Dooley is the only one they made an offer to but there isn't a Tennessee fan that can say that with a straight face. They got about 10 "no thanks" to even talk, a few "I'll listen but I cant promise you anything" and 2 outright rejections after negotiations began. All this talk about Dooley not being offered until 4pm yesterday is just semantics. No AD makes an offer until he knows it will be accepted. They were working out details all afternoon until they knew everything was agreed upon which was around 4PM yesterday. Then an "official" offer was extended and accepted. I dont know exactly where Dooley ranked on all the involved parties lists but based on what I know its no better than 15th.
It's online anonymous poll, of course they have a choice. If they don't approve of the hire, the would vote no. You think if they hired some loser that they would all be voting that they approve of it? And no, a large percentage of their boards did not think Kippy Brown would be a better hire. And if they did, then they would vote that they didn't approve of Dooley because they wanted Brown. Look, I didn't know who Dooley was either, and my first impression was "why in the heck did they hire that guy?" But after learning about him, it doesn't surprise me that he was in the top 3-4 guys that they wanted.
And who were the other 14 that they wanted over Dooley? Saban? Meyer? Mack Brown? Stoops? Gruden? Yeah, it's great to shot high like that, but realistically, name the realistic candidates that Tenn. wanted over Dooley.
Oh....one more thing I failed to mention and this is about Muschamp. In talks with Sexton it was apparent that Muschamp is available if the right job with the proper conditions opened up. He just didn't like the Tennessee situation at this time but it is widely believed in their athletic office that one of the jobs he would take is LSU.
Wrong, the norm would be to get on board and support the current hire or some nut job like JohnLSU would be calling them bad fans. If it surprises you that people that didn't want Dooley as coach are now supporting the hire after it is a done deal you really do lead a sheltered life. I provided you links earlier in one of the threads. You obviously didn't click and read. Far more wanted Kippy than wanted Dooley, far more. That shows just how little you follow college football. Anyone that has been following LSU football for more than a few years would know exactly who Derek Dooley was. Maybe Tennessee fans wouldn't but LSU fans certainly should. You should post less and read more.
I was and had been on volnation before the press conference. The fans wanted to lynch Hamilton and let his bones bleach in the sun. As soon as that presser was over it was the most incredible emotional transformation I ever witnessed. They went from total disdain to absolute euphoria in a matter of a few minutes. It was actually embarrassing to know as a fan base things can get that crazy and folks can turn it off like a light switch. Who was really convicted to began with? The vols emotions were running about 20 minutes a head of their minds.
I typically dont see what you post because you're on my ignore list. Since you posted right after me I figured you were addressing my post so I looked. I will respond even though I dont normally address posts by internet trolls but its obvious you dont pay attention. In the case of Tennessee I have a unique insight. If you were paying attention you would know. Whatever I post about Tennessee is going to be more accurate than anything you can gather by trolling forums or googling topics, which is your forte. The list originally had these names in no particular order. All of them with substantially more experience than Dooley. Lovie Smith Gary Patterson Troy Calhoun Chris Peterson Will Muschamp David Cutcliffe Kyle Wittingham Kevin Sumlin Mike Gundy Randy Edsall Charlie Strong Tommy Tubberville Todd Graham Anyway, I am not going to respond any further to your posts. The bottom line is you dont know what you're talking about and we'll leave it at that.
Tennessee just got themselves a solid young Head Coach. Dooley is going to do well there. I'm not saying he's going to win championships. This is the SEC. Every team has great players and coaches. This is, BY FAR, the strongest league in the country. I'm just saying, I know what he had working at LaTech and they were definately headed in the right direction. I've seen him with his wife and kids several times out in the LaTech/ Ruston community. I like the hire. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
I have to agree but the sentiment around the athletic office is things are going to get worse before they get better. Dooley will have some time from management but the fan base needs to be patient. Tennessee is extremely thin on talent. Fulmers last years produced too few recruits who stuck with the program and Kiffin's recruits have a different mentality then those Dooley will recruit. Dooley is all class and discipline but Kiffin was all bravado and flash. Accordingly he attracted players who liked that style and those wont be Dooley type players. I like Dooley a lot and feel Tennessee may have hit a home run but that home run is going to come in the mid innings, not the first pitch of the game.
You have nothing new here. Again, anonymous internet poll, no way for any JohnLSU types to tell them they are bad fans for how they vote, is there? Great you found a few posts that support Kippy. That was just a minority of Vol fans. Anybody can go read the Vol forums and tell you that.
