Young Dooley may be over his head.....Normally...but Dad can watch pratices, etc.....cannot coach on the field....but can give all the advice young Dooley needs at home. Papa has a world of knowledge. Young Dooley ain't no dummy.
LOL...ya know whats funny? I dont go to other teams boards, never have. However, I would be willing to bet I gave you guys better, quicker and more accurate info about Tennessee than whats floating around their boards. How ironic is that? :hihi:
Didn't realize how great at recruiting this guy was. Saw a post on a Vol forum saying "while he was with nick saban at LSU he was the recruiting co. and landed a number 1 class and the year following a top 3 class...he is young and energetic like what MH wants." Then I read this in the news: Derek Dooley worked as LSU’s recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach from 2000 through 2003’s signing day, landing classes rated No. 1 in 2001 and 2003. He had barely started his coaching career and recruiting coordinator is usually given to someone that already has very few duties. Saban brought in those classes, no one even knew who Derek Dooley was at the time. You might as well give him credit for the national championship LSU won while he was here while you're at it.
In Lane Kiffin's USC press conference he was talking about how he Pete Carroll made him the recruiting coordinator in addition to being the OC. He asked Pete if he was sure about this, being that that was two huge responsibilities to put on one guy, and Pete told him that experience like that would prepare him to be a head coach one day.

No doubt about it, each different responsibility a young coach is given helps prepare him for bigger and better things. However you gave Dooley credit for LSU's classes in 2001 and 2003. There are several coaches that played a much much much larger role in bringing in those two classes, one that immediately comes to mind is Nick Saban.
Poll on GoVolsextra.com with 7,000 voters says 66% approve of Dooley as their new head coach.... that's better than the support recent US Presidents got when they were elected.
