There's a new article on tigerrag about the 5 star juco WR....it says he was offered a scholly a little over a week ago and is taking a visit this weekend.....he also says lsu is the team to beat...I'd say thats pretty good news.

Rivals only has this guy as a 3 star. He's an Xavier Carter type - very fast but not very good hands. I am questioning why we would offer a JUCO receiver that, from what I've heard, is not very polished when what we need at the position is a player that can have an immediate impact...

Yeah that is the knock on him is his hands....the good thing about it though is that if he commits it shouldnt hurt deter tolliver in any way.

if he is a 5 star on anyone's watch, it's worth a shot...

He may not be the best route runner and/or catcher, but where would our offense have been last season without Brazell's big plays?

It took him 4 years to be able to catch anything...

I wonder what guys like J&C Mitchell and Ricky Dixon think about all of this WR recruiting.

They better be thinking that it better not take them 4 years to learn how to catch the ball or someone will pass them by.

I saw that Sunny said his hands aren't the problem it is the QB...

Probably the same thing(s) Alley and JV were thinking when we signed Scott, KW and Murphy.... Probably the same thing(s) Russell, Flynn and RP are thinking when we were hard after 2 QB's last year--and recruited hard for Jarrett Lee this year.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that it doesn't always have to be viewed in negative light. It shows the current players on the team that LSU is VERY dedicated to winning and remains so...It also tells current players on the team that just because you've got more experience in the program doesn't automatically make you a would-be starter--you still have to work hard.

    Competition is good for everyone.

Besides, any player worth his salt; those players that expect to get a chance to make a career out of playing football had better get used to a coach, GM, owner constantly looking to upgrade or keep the talent level high. If the Mitchells and Ricky Dixon believe that they are good enough to one day play on Sundays, then they can't let something like this (recruiting talented players at their position) affect them.

Agree with all that you are saying, but hotshot high school players may not feel the same way.

D.Mitch, C.Mitch & Dixon aren't in high school anymore. We are recruiting guys for the future like we do every year. These 3 will be counted on to make plays for LSU in 2007. Who's behind them on the depth chart right now?
