We'd take Arthur Brown in a heart beat.

Doesn't have an offer & definitely not high on our list.

Scott would be the only RB we'd take in this class, but we won't get him.

Maybe as many as 8. We'll have several non-qualifiers in this class.

It's a down year in Louisiana for talent, but to compound the problem Rivals has done a poor job of evaluating the state. That's making our ranking look worse. There's plenty of talent in this class, but it lacks an immediate impact guy like Chad Jones.

We will finish any where from 6th to 13th. My guess is 8th or 9th.

The majority of LSU's classes are always going to be made up of Louisiana players. Most of the players Saban got, Miles would've gotten & vice versa.

There's plenty of talent on board. Miles' recruits that you didn't mention: Darry Beckwith, Drake Nevis, Chad Jones, Terrance Toliver, Ciron Black - all potential first day picks.

Our DC is not in charge of recruiting defensive players. Each coach has a region that he's responsible for. Pelini was given the Lafayette area because it recruits itself. His loss is not very big to recruiting so long as we can assure kids we'll bring someone in that matches their style of play. Hopefully we'll hire someone before signing day to ensure that.

You da man, 'Parso. Thanks.

Not that he's the expert, but based upon one of DDon's more recent posts, his "likely to sign (with LSU) list" is

DeAngelo Benton (5*s, WR)
Chase Clements (4*s, DL)
Tyler Edwards (4*s, TE)
Justin Thompson (4*s, LB)
DeAndre Brown (4*s, WR)

His "wouldn't turn away if they wanted LSU list" is:

Darrell Scott (5*s, RB)
Matt Patchan (5*s, OL)
Arthur Brown (5*s, LB)
Patrick Johnson (5*s, CB)

Do people agree with this? :)

If this is close, we land only one 5*, but a good solid crop of 4*s, and we're hoping at the last minute to see one/some of these 5*s convert from the bottom. Or, we hope for someone who shows up on the radar at the last minute to appear.

To me, it seems as though LSU can never get enough good OLs, DLs, and good CBs. That's probably been the foundation on which these recent teams have been built. If you got the solid lines and lock down secondary, you can have confidence that you can execute with our good stable of RBs and WRs. Signing a top notch LB would be nice too, although I can't say that this has been a supreme emphasis of our recruiting in the past. To me, that means Patchan and Johnson probably are critical and Brown or Scott would be gravy.

When is that Army All-American Game? Will we get any love at that thing this year? Who of our guys will be attending?

:champs: Great summary aind I agree. I think Patchan, Chase Clement, Tyler Edwards, and Deangelo Benton are critical to this class. Some of the other players mentioned I'm not as familiar with them, but if they are 5's we need 'em!!!!:crystal: :geaux:

I consider Benton to already be committed. Justin Thompson, LB? There's a Justin Thompson 4 star DT, and I wouldn't consider him a probable - just a possible.

I agree with the rest of that list. Chris Tolliver is a real question right now, but I consider him a probable even though he's named Alabama his leader.

LSU averages about two 5 stars a year. I think this year will be right there.

As a generalization, I agree. But with each class, it's about what the team needs based on depth at each position.

We have one top notch LB committed, a Rivals 100 member - Ryan Baker.

I don't know if invitations have gone out yet. The game is some time in January.

Well, for sake of discussion, Dandy Don is turning his attention to recruiting too it seems, and this is his latest hit/probability list as of today (by name, position, stats, place and chance they'll sign with LSU)...

Deangelo Benton (WR), 6'3", 200, Hargrave Mil., 90-10
Chase Clement (DE), 6'6", 243, E.D. White, 80-20

Chris Tolliver (WR), 6'3", 196, Rayville, 70-30
Lavar Edwards (DE), 6'4", 275, Desire Street Academy, 60-40

Darrell Scott (RB), Los Angeles, California, 20-80

This is a pretty good comprehensive list. Although no Patrick Johnson it seems.

If the top 6-7 of these guys, sign, do people agree we'll have a top 10 class?

As for the Army game, at least we'll not be shut out. We need a few Tiger recruits in there spreading the religion...

I just don't see us offering Nelson based on what I have seen of him. Lavar Edwards must be exceptionally quick if his shuttle time isn't a misprint. He has a 4.22 shuttle time at 6-3, 275 which is comparable to rb's and wr's, but if we get Clement I wonder if we would still offer him? CParso, what are your thoughts on PJ Smith and Cooper, they aren't that highly rated by the services.
