We're going to spread the field on you and open it up. You're going to get a heavy dose of SEC speed. We'll have no problems running sideline to sideline, because you'll be so preoccupied with Hester up the middle that a simple counter/pitch will be enough to hold your linebackers while Williams/Scott/Holliday (pick your poison) gets around the end. I'm looking forward to how this shakes out, but I see no reason why it's not anything but what you got last year from FL. You're a young team. Maybe next year.
The fewer points scored were a function of having Perriloux in the game and refusing to open up the offense in the first half. Instead we tried to compensate by being less predictable. This took us down to the 10 yard line 2 or 3 times, but at that point we stalled because they refused to let Perriloux throw the ball. It is very hard to run the ball in from the 9 or 10 when they are stacking the box. On at least one occasion they called the same predictable play I was speaking of, the QB draw with no one in the backfield. Tennessee saw it coming a mile away and dropped Perriloux for a loss or no gain. If Flynn were healthy and in the game we would have thrown the ball earlier and likely scored more points. I am not knocking Perriloux because who knows what would have happened had they had enough faith in him to let him actually throw it into the endzone once we reached the 10 yard line.
I am thinking... Line up with Flynn under center and RP right behind the guard with his back to the defense. After the hike, Flynn drops back and does either a fake or real handoff to RP. They both roll out in opposite directions and the which ever one has the ball has a run/pass option. OK, I would be happy with Hester, Hester, and more Hester if we win.
I hope LSU does not attempt to run the no huddle as a previous poster alluded to. I think it will likely create too much confusion for us and we will then be penalized eventually. I also wish we could stop the confusion in the red zone by keeping the same people in the game. How many time outs and penalties--especially early in the year- have we incurred because we tried to get different personel in the game, including Perriloux, once we were near the goal. Maybe it is me, but it seems we get a penalty every game because our WR's still can't figure out if they should be on or off the line of scrimmage depending on the play called. Byrd and Tolliver can get deep on their safeties, but with Flynn's shoulder injury I wonder if he can reach them without hanging the ball up for grabs. We may have to bring Perriloux in to take a few deep shots if his arm is still not right by game day. I would feel more comfortable with Flynn reading the safeties if he is healthy though.
I don't ever recall us throwing the ball to Holiday and his tiny hands. I wish we could even though he is a small target. There is no one he couldn't beat on a fly pattern. If he was isolated on a LB it would be laughable. I can only conclude he can't catch. I suppose this is why we don't use him on punt returns, only kickoff returns.
I have seen a handful of LSU games this year, but hadn't taken notice of whether or not you guys ever employ a no-huddle. Your feeling that LSU would struggle with it is a relief to me. M*ch*g*n ran it for one drive in the first quarter, and then went away from it. They probably would have given the Buckeyes a game if they had stuck with it. Even though you think it's a shaky proposition, do you think that's something your team might work on leading up to the game? There's a lot of time between now and then to fix things and install new stuff. I'd actually like to see Ohio State install a little no-huddle in their offense. It might give Boeckman a chance to establish a rhythm early in the game. Historically, Tressel adds something new along these lines leading up the bowls. There's usually a new wrinkle in the offense or players that hadn't seen much action before who emerge during bowl practices and play a role in the game.
I thought Perriloux was sensational, considering that he's had limited snaps this year. It's that inexperience that concerns me just a bit for this game that's for all the marbles though. I'd rather we use what brung us here. (I'd smack my kids for putting it that way). I'm looking forward to a healthy team. And a healthy team will be too much for tOSU to stop, predictable, or otherwise. I think our predictable offense will predictably put up 28 or more and our defense, being healthy again, will give up less than that. Much less than that. AND THAT MAKES US THE WINNER OF THE :crystal: . :geaux: :geaux: :geaux:
I dont agree with this at all. you want Flynn in the game with a bad shoulder and over or under throwing receivers like he did against Arkansas. Wow that makes perfect sense. you should be the OC.
I absolutely want Flynn in the game if his shoulder is healed. We are playing for this :crystal: because of him, not in spite of him. BTW, Flynn was not the problem against Ark, it was the defense. When you score 28 in regulation, you should win. End of story.
i dont know if you read the whole post, but i said if he is hurt, i dont want him in the game making bad throws. But i guess you just skipped that part. I didnt say he was the problem in the Arkansas game as well, I said he made some bad throws. Being 7 of 23 in the first half isnt quite what i would call accurate. so try to re read my post and what i was responding too. Yes I want him to start the NC game, thats no question. So back down with your asnine asssumptions.
