I don't know about that, we've only had Chavis for a season now, I think another season or two will be needed to see our defense at full potential. Chavis' bend but don't break defense almost beat the #1 and #2 teams in the country... while still not great, it's a lot better than the defense that allowed the Gators to spank us by 30 last season. A lot of people in the Tigers camp can say the same thing for GC. For being an offensive genius, the kind of offensive trend we've been seeing the last two years was warned upon us when he first got to town. As for Chavis' style costing our O too many lost possessions... until our offense can show they can move the ball more consistantly, and score more points... i'm gonna have to think the offense has cost themselves too many lost possessions.
The reason i think Chavis has done a remarkable job is the way the Linebackers have gone from a group of nobodies, to a solid unit. The defensive line has been a joke, with the exception of good play from Drake Nevis from time to time. Chancey Aug has done a good job at times also.
I think Lavar Edwards will be a beast. I also think that the D-line will be monstrous next year. I am concerned about our linebackers, the secondary will be tight.
the linebackers worried me at first, but seeing the job that Chavis did with those guys, makes me believe that the linebackers will be ok. Minter, Jones, Baker, Sheppard, Mingo, i think we should be ok.
