19, 21, 24, 22. Those are the points given up this season. It's safe to say the best offense LSU has faced this year is Mississippi State, and they aren't very good. I have a bad feeling that we are going to see A&M, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Florida and maybe even Arkansas put up a lot of points on this defense this year. Not very good against the run, not very good against the pass, the linebackers are atrocious, the db's are the best unit but they have underperformed as well. This defense has to get better, or it's not going to matter how good Leonard Fournette is.
feels a lot like last year on D. We kind of turned it around on D last year but it took a couple losses for that to happen.
Les needs to win with Steele. The defense has carried him most of his time here. Time to earn your check, bud.
The yardage allowed totals don't look all that bad, though... vs Miss St: 43 rushing; 335 passing (by far the worst total) vs Auburn: 160 rushing; 100 passing vs Syracuse: 127 rushing; 154 passing vs EMU: 94 rushing; 161 passing Admittedly, the defense really doens't pass the eye test, IMO. There seems to be something missing.
I really wonder if Alleva was like, "you aren't getting another rolls Royce. Here's your budget, go get the best you can and make it work." And by Alleva I might mean BOS.
He's only been a DC twice in his career, he was the DC for Alabama in 2007 when Alabama won 6 games and lost to ULM, and he was a DC for Clemson and I seem to remember them being shit on defense. Kevin Greene attacked him when he was the linebacker coach for Carolina, and he was 9-36 as a head coach at Baylor. The best thing he did for Baylor was get fired. This dude is a chump man, how in the fuck did he ever get a defensive coordinator job at LSU?
