maybe im crazy and maybe this is just video game stuff but tell me if this wouldnt work, we used the same theory kinda vs app state move chad jones and danny mccray to OLB with darry beckwith as middle lineback curtis taylor at FS and harry coleman at SS cbs same as usual and d line same as usual i thought this would help us counter the speed on defense oh and btw taylor laid a money hit on one of their tiny backs
This is a little more similar to what TT likes his defenses to be at Auburn. Tuberville is fond of smaller, but faster linebackers. That is if they are truly playing as linebackers.... This seems like an ultra dime package. Regardless, if we were playing man coverage, they were going to find a way to match Harvin with McCray.
Chad Jones has enough problems learning the Dime/rover position. What makes you think he will be able to learn all the correct calls etc. to play linebacker? And please, the one time McCray was covering Harvin, and he was thrown to, McCray was actually right where he was supposed to be. It was the safety over the top who was way out of position. Like I stated in another thread, I don't like McCray being the nickle and you can contact any number of my friends who watch games with me. But for once it wasn't his fault and he actually had good coverage on Harvin amazingly enough. If we are going to bash him when he is out of position, you have to give him credit for when he is right where he is supposed to be. We can't keep blaming our secondary woes on McCray not being a great nickle back. Everyone is that secondary is young except for Taylor. Our weakness is the secondary, and UF did an amazing job of exploiting it.
