right now our defense is hurting pretty damn bad. It was our corners and secondary who were under the microscope coming into this year, young guys not alot of playing time, and for the most part (other than danny worthless mccray) they have done a descent job. Our Defensive line which was suppossed to be the best in the country, cant get to the quarterback, and cant stop the run. Our linebackers are a joke. I would venture to say that about 65% of the yards we have allowed this year you can put stricktly on our linebackers. They cant cover, and they cant make plays. We are in pretty bad shape right now on defense. Luckily we dont play a team with the speed florida has again this year, and i think we match up alot better with Georgia and Bama. But if we dont start blitzing and stop playing soft zones we are going to continue to get torched this year.

Your very last statement is the core of the trouble. Our linebackers are solid tacklers and good run-stoppers, but they are HORRIBLE in coverage. These <<cough, cough>> "Co-DC's" aren't using our players to their advantages. If they can't cover, send them down the middle. Given that our D-Line needs help getting to the QB anyway, it just seems like the best solution. But I'm no pro.

Except for LB the talent is there. The coaching staff needs to put them into a position to make plays(scheme) and that is not happening. However the loss isn't entirely on the coaches, the players didn't show either. It's been a long long time since I've see a 165 pound running back break so many tackles.

    2006 -- 11-2 #3 National Rank
    2007 -- 12-2 #5 National Rank
