Last team to do it was the '03-'04 Pats. By all accounts, we were lucky to even make the playoffs. Most SB champs don't even do that. Having a 1st round bye would've helped us tremendously. Although decimated with injuries, that's not why we lost today. Injuries would've caught up to us eventually in the playoffs, but poor defense, especially Roman Harper, killed us today.
Just seemed like a very uninspired effort by the Saints overall. Winning it all is the worst recipe imagined for being a hungry football team. But the South division is still well represented with Atlanta. They were able to handle their open week with the same efficiency and professionalism that has marked the season.
