Not the point of the thread. You tailgate all day, get fired up and join everyone in the stadium and the place is buzzing. The team falls behind and half of them say "We suck, let's go home". The opponents thrive on the silence and play harder. The home team has no energy to feed off of and...well, you see what happens.
Once again, not sure what your point is here, I have had season tics AND donated substantial funds (and still do) to two D-1 schools in the same year. Not sure you have ever tried to make it to two college games in different states on the same day, but I have.:geaux:
Not questioning the validity. Just another thread implicating (at least in my mind) LSU football is going down the drain. We can still end up with a pretty good season. Just won't be a great one. You are probably right about CBS which means I will probably have to fork over more money to TigerVision next year. But I will know matter what our record may be.
For one thing, I was in the student section last night and it was as loud and raucous as it's ever been for any game in Tiger Stadium, and we made noise even when it was clear the comeback wasn't going to happen. At the same time, by and large our fans aren't stupid when it comes to football. They recognize a poor effort when they see one. If LSU comes out prepared, fights hard and still gets beat, our fans will appreciate the effort. Instead, with the exception of Bama, we've seen blowouts and few (if any) signs of improvement from both the QBs and D. Our fans have picked up on that, even those who don't closely follow the sport. Some fans are not going to sit there and applaud a team that looks like they haven't practiced all week, or support a staff that seems to have no clue how to fix any of the team's problems. Other fans feel they should absolutely, completely support their team unconditionally, regardless of whether their team plays with intensity or if they sleepwalk through a game. I don't agree with the last philosophy personally, but respect those who do. And quite honestly, I don't blame those fans who left in the 3rd quarter after seeing what's been going on all season, and I don't think their "fandom" should come under fire for it, either.
I'm not questioning anyone's fandom. I'm just explaining why Death Valley has lost it's lustre. If fans want to leave early, fine. Just don't wonder why the stadium is not as fearsome.
Our team has no heart, no fire, no soul, no pride. They are the anti-2007 Tiger team. Couple that with nothing but fricking day games, and you have a losing atmosphere in Tiger Stadium. I don't blame the fans. We do our best and would gladly scream all game, but there is just absolutely ZERO energy coming from the team on the field. The Bama game is proof of what the crowd can do when the team is actually trying.
Like it was stated early... you play the games at night and they are much better... recall Florida and Auburn games last year... Death Valley was rocking... I think that Alabama gets played at 7 instead of 2:30 and I think its a win... same with Ole Miss... maybe not Georgia.. but the game will be closer..
The reality is that the night games provide us with hours of more alchohol consumption. Hence our energy level is waaaaay up. You ever try and get plowed at 8:00 am drinking Bloody Marys. It just aint happenin. :geaux:
