Word out of Rivals and Scout is that Wide Receiver DeAngelo Peterson out of Desire STreet Academy has given his commitment to Les Miles. He's currently a 3-star on both services, but I think that's going to go up quite a bit considering the offers he reportedly had. He impressed at camp in June and earned his offer. Does this mean we're not going after laron byrd? http://geauxtuscaloosa.blogspot.com/2007/07/new-2008-commitment-deangelo-peterson.html
Had offers from LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee... also Ole Miss, West Virginia, and Louisiana Tech. :geauxtige
Does anybody really think he is going to play WR at LSU, or do you think he'll play defense? Rivals says he plays several positions on defense and offense. I'm not sure how I feel about Desire Steet Academy players. We gotten commitments from Gabriel Bryant and Charles Deas, and neither of them ever made it to LSU.
Well it wont be because Peterson's grades.....check this out...almost as impressive as a 4.27 40 time. Biography: DeAngelo Peterson finished his junior season with 43 receptions for 743 yards and six touchdowns. Defensively, he had 76 tackles; Peterson benches 285 pounds, squats 400 and has a 34-inch vertical jump. Peterson reports a 3.4 core GPA and a 1260 SAT. Peterson: "I can play everything. I'm very athletic and am a hard worker. I'm pretty big too and have a good size advantage over most cornerbacks. I'd like to get stronger and be more physical."
You gotta like that. There's even talk on the premium boards that he might not be a WR at the next level. They may bulk him up and have him play defensive end, which sounds crazy. His coach raved about what a great athlete he is.
Yes I saw that too and the idea of him playing DE at LSU is crazy with our talent level of the DL. If he doesn't play WR he will probably be a DB. His coach was just trying to express that he thinks he is being recruited as an athlete, not just a WR, and got carried away IMO.
He's played both ways his Junior season, I could see him as a DB or Saftey if we get a in flux of 4 and 5 star WR this year. Good WR make excellent DB's sometimes, Hence Corey Webster.
