Re: Sam Montgomery-DE? He was asked today who his leader is and he said LSU. The rest in order were Tenn, UNC, Oregon, and then Michigan. Really likes how we have immediate need on the dline.
Re: Sam Montgomery-DE? I wonder what the hell happened with South Carolina? A lot of people thought for the longest time they were in the lead. After Dye, I would say this would be my 2nd most hopeful pickup at DE.
Re: Sam Montgomery-DE? Well I went read the writeup on him and I think he is saying we're first amongst the teams he will be officially visiting. This was the question posed: "Of the five official visit schools, what's the pecking order going in?" His answer was LSU. I do believe that USCe and Clemson are still #1 and #2. I hope I am wrong.
Re: Sam Montgomery-DE? Thanks for clarifying, I should have known with those 2 programs missing from the list.
Re: Sam Montgomery-DE? I don't know how pertinent this is, but neither USC nor Clemson are on his list of official visits. They are North Carolina, Michigan, Oregon, Tennesse and LSU.
Re: Sam Montgomery-DE? The reason they are not on his official list is because it would not cost him much to go to those schools to visit since they are close to where he lives. Save the expensive trips for officials. Plus he has been to both schools many times already. Now to the good news... LSU is indeed in the lead for his services based on a new Scout article. He said Right now I think I am ending up at LSU.
Re: Sam Montgomery-DE? Huge surprise if LSU does indeed get this guy. The better question is, Dye appears to be announcing earlier than this guy, so does LSU take Dye over this guy? Will LSU take both? I just don't see that happening, someone is going to get the shaft, assuming both want to go to LSU. I assume LSU has Montgomery higher on their board, he has some pretty sick measurables although I doubt the listed 4.4 speed is accurate.
Re: Sam Montgomery-DE? Great info bhelm! To answer your question Deuce, I think LSU would have a hard time turning down either of these. I think they would reconsider cutting out another position, like a 2nd safety if they can't get Myles or Armstrong, or another OL or a 4th LB. Both Dye and Montgomery are considered great edge rushers, and that's something LSU just cannot pass up on. Dye rated 3rd best pass rusher by a DE on rivals. Montgomery rated 4th best first step by a DE on rivals. A couple of Alems, basically.
Re: Sam Montgomery-DE? I agree with you, I think we take both of these guys its a must. We are losing alot on the D-line this year. Great information bhelm, you are a wealth of knowledge.
