Something is wrong here. I find it hard to believe that we offered DS (he says he was offered but his coach did not know about it) and Logan while still in the running for Montgomery.

Only way it could be true IMO is if the staff felt there is no way Sam is coming to LSU which is not likely at this point based on what SM has been saying.

Is LSU out or not? Where did you get this from? The Dandy Don first hand info isn't supporting this. His visit to LSU is scheduled around the 30th. Unless he cancels that visit I think he is willing to wait on an offer from us.

The entire DL recruitment is getting crazy. The newspaper said we were also targeting Josh Boyd a DT (Miss State commit) 4 star ranked right behind Sentimore.

Josh Boyd will stay with Miss St. IMO.

Overall I think we can only take one more DE in this class but another DT as well is possible. That would give us 2 DE and 2 or 3 DTs.

Overall, we have about 6 spots remaining:

Randle, Mingo, and Tahj will end up at LSU IMO.

    One DE (Montgomery or Logan)
    One Safety (Myles or Johns)

One remaining spot could go to a DT, S, FB, or WR IMO.

That was stated publicly by Logan himself, although some thought it was just him venting and unhappy LSU was dragging it's feet with his recruitment.

We will have to wait this one out. Logan probably won't get offered until after the Jan 23rd visit by Montgomery. Will Logan wait until almost signing day to see if LSU will use him as a fallback plan? Does he get fed up with everything and sign with someone else before that happens? We just don't know. Maybe he loves LSU so much that he will wait until NSD. I just tend to doubt it.

“Coach [Les] Miles actually called me up on Sunday to talk to me about everything,” Logan said. “He wants me to come in the weekend of Jan. 23. I currently have a visit scheduled to go check out Southern Mississippi that weekend, but I am really thinking about cancelling it so that I can come to LSU and talk with coach.

Looks like the kid is back on board.

Considering canceling his Jan 23rd visit to Southern Miss and replacing it with LSU. So now LSU will have both Logan and Montgomery the same weekend.

Grades are a slight question mark, so maybe a greyshirt is in order. We'll see if he'll take that over a scholly at another school (Texas Tech or Nebraska).

The coaching staff may be a little leery of Montgomery and his flippant statements.

Looks like something will finally shake out from that weekend regarding the DE position.

Nice, we can have them side by side at the same time. Psychologically, the the natural competitive instinct in Montgomery may surface and cause him to favor LSU a little more than if Logan wasn't there and vice versa.
Does Southern Miss try to scoop up every decent recruit with grade problems that we are looking at?

Kid is getting a little tired of what's going on with LSU is my best guess.

If he doesn't get offered an 09 scholarship by early next week (by midweek), I truly believe Logan will go elsewhere. There will be no greyshirt in the matter.

My best guess is Nebraska, although Texas Tech and maybe even Ole Miss might be able to sneak in.

LSU is standing a decent chance to end up with absolutely no additional DEs in this class if it doesn't handle the situation correctly.

I don't envy Les Miles and Co. on this one. It's tough when you perceive some higher ranked recruits (i.e., Montgomery and Stinson) as being legitimate commits to only find out you're not going to be the pick on NSD. Good luck to them.

I hope he doesn't go to ole miss and we have to play against him every year. This is a problem we are beginning to run into with our abundance of recruiting riches. We pull in a few more out of state players now that we have won championships. However, that leaves some very good in-state talent for our rivals to pick up. Unfortunately, sometimes the guy we didn't have room for ends up being the better player after a few years. In fairness, if the recruit goes to Ole Miss or Miss State, or anywhere there has traditionally been less talent they can probably play earlier and this helps their development. So when we compare them to the recruit we took that was slightly better than them they may be further along because they have more experience.

    Bama offered Logan yesterday.

Saban is trying to put on the pressure so we can't focus on Stinson as much IMO.

If we offer an unconditional offer this weekend or early next week, he will be a Tiger.
