He was offered by LSU and recently received offers from Michigan and Nebraska. Looks like he could be our next Dline commit but he really likes Nebraska as well. 6'3 250 with a 4.7. Considered an excellent speed rusher of the edge. LSU coaches likes what they saw from him at the Summer camp.
Why would we take his committment, when we still have shots with Dye, Stinson, and Montgomery? Not saying the guy cant play, but some dont even have him rated.
Just found out it is a wait and see deal, where we told him to take time with his decision. During that time the picture should be clearer on the other guys we are after. But Miles didn't want to wait and not offer him while someone like NU scooped him up. The reason for not being rated is because he was a late bloomer in this recruiting season. I think he will end up a high 3* but could be higher if he played against tougher competition.
Potentially dangerous situation with losing out on a local kid that really wanted to go to LSU, but LSU getting just a bit greedy in hopes of other prospects, none of which are solid or possibly even leaning at this point. I'd say we have a better than 50 percent at landing either Dye, Montgomery or Stinson, but what if we don't? This kid could be gone by then. LSU doesn't exactly hold all the cards anymore with the CO-DCs still "hanging around". I certainly wouldn't commit until a new and credible DC is hired. We also passed on a young man by the name of Frank Alexander, a quick as all get out speed rusher off the edge. Poor evaluation on our part. Kid is killing it as a redshirt freshman on the top team in the nation. We'll see what transpires here. His stock is rising fast.
:geaux: If he turns out to be as good as the other kids on the board who are out-of-staters, I hope we take him. Need to take the in-state kids when we can. :LSU231:
According to NWLAPreps: Logan was All-State (2A) as a sophomore and junior, and he tied Chris Davenport for the 3-2A Co-Defensive MVP. They wrote: Logan gets double teamed on almost every play and yet he still finds a way to make big plays. In my opinion B. Logan is as good or maybe even better then his highly touted district foe Chris Davenport of Mansfield. http://www.nwlapreps.com/content.asp?CID=107575 Dandy Don's Dec 10th update: Dec 10 -- With 21 commitments, Miles can only take four or five more and we all know that Miles will hold scholarships for Rueben Randle, Barkevious Mingo, Andre DeBose, William Campbell, Darren Myles and linebacker Jarvis Jones from Columbus, Georgia as long as it takes. If LSU should lose out on any of these players, and most likely they will, you can expect Miles to offer safety Josh Johns from Central of Baton Rouge, and it would not surprise me to see Miles offer Benny Logan from Red River high school in Coushatta, La. #60 Bennie Logan
Moved his visit to LSU to the last week of January, just before NSD. Looks like LSU has him on hold to see how the other DEs pan out, and he is ours as a backup option. He will not decide until NSD, unless LSU offers and then he will likely take it.
:geaux: Probably better chance to play earlier at those two. Think he was told there was no room for him in this class? May be a victim of the numbers game. Wish LSU had gotten this kid. I think he'll end up doing well wherever he ends up. Good luck Benny. :LSU231:
