O considered hiring him back in the day when they were both coaching in Cali. That says this isn't some random guy he Googled. He's been following him a long time. He's had some crazy awesome defensive minds highly recommend him for the job. Not sure what there isn't to like. He was a DC for five years and his defense was mostly tops in that league. He just got Zimmer who specialty is the secondary song his praises which is rare from Zim. Etc etc.

Didn't compare him to Brady. The comparison is both he and Jones had no coordinator experience before they were hired as coordinators. Same to be said for Nielsen, Schumann and Arnett all whom were slobbered over by people here and at all the other LSU sites like TF. At least Jones has D2 Bowie State on his resume as a DC. Also laugh if you want he also has Jenerette and Franklin High as being DC's tgere to. DC is DC no matter what level there are still 11 players on offense you have to scheme to stop. Once again none of the other golden boys had that on their resume either.

Man that's a great yardstick to judge a new coach.

I like that he is a technician and good at teaching it. I have always thought some of our guys suffered in this department. Could have just been laziness due to God given talent but I've seen us blow a lot of plays due to poor technique. I think I like this guy if he lives up to what is written about him. Kudos to O for taking his time to get this right.

This really quells my doubts. I had an inkling that this was O saying I have no direction, let me call Aranda and ask him who he likes so I can get back to 2019. But if he’s been sought that long and has been getting that much praise, count me in. Harrison Smith had great things to say about him.

Can he stop the RPO is the question. Or at least slow it down...
