Its a good problem to have. Means they were doing something right. The ones that stay forever are more times than not the ones no one else wants. This holds true for all forms of occupation.
Am hearing Freeman was in the bag with Woodward & BOS 100% for the hire. Then he had his meet & greet with Orgeron. Apparently Freeman did not love Orgeron or vice versa. Something went astray, because Freeman was in for coming to LSU, before the Orgeron meeting. Then it broke down very quickly to phone calls. Huge miss. I know there is a lot of anger at Orgeron for this, by the powers at LSU. A note of interest. LSU Is/was looking to hire a top minority coach & Orgeron might not be with the program in that regard. His love for Odom, Steele & other second tier coaches seems off from LSU's goals.
Guys this Freeman guy is unproven. He is not even proven in the Midwest. If he had a great defense at say a Penn State or Michigan than that's different. Now how can we think he would be great in the big bad SEC? I would take Odom or even Steele over Freeman. Hell Steele has always played us tough at Auburn even last year where he held us to just 23 points. Other than Bama Auburn was the only team that came close to beating us in the SEC.
Well Odom had squat to work with at Arkansas. As young, injured and short as we were on defense we were still pretty far ahead of Ark with quality players.
Everyone had the same fucking shit to deal with. No excuse for ANY SEC school to be below 50 in total D. NONE. If you cant manage that, you dont deserve a job at LSU. Period!
Not sure I'm buying the "Freeman unproven" take, but its a good point about Steele. Auburn did the best job against our offense in '19 by far.
