Not on board with blaming either totally. Linehan had to work with two 18 year QB's a very thin and injured OL and key opt outs at WR and TE. Pelini trying to install a new defense with a very young defense and a thin inexperienced DB corp and thin at LB. They may have been caubible but we will never know.
I put the blame on the head man. The fact is both of his hires are now unemployed after 1 year, Matt Canada style. Been through a laundry list of new faces on staff.
So why are they at the top every year? Excuse for O is he lost everyone which is why we sucked this year. I guess the common denominator is their top dog is better than ours. I keep telling you this program is too big for O, he will not sustain success like his predecessors. We will be an up and down team as long as he is here and may even suffer sanctions when he cuts corners, if it’s not already in the works.
Dude is a stud. Might have a little more lasting power than Freeman, but he too aspires to be a HC. Some time as a DC will prove his worth I suppose
About the only way to run 4 down against these spreads, and you still need exceptional talent. Still think O was off base on this one, but he does have the hosses on the D-line he needs to sustain a pass rush without the blitz. Just need MUCH better linebacker play.
