Will give Bob kudos for Bertman for sure the hire of a lifetime. However Arnsparger was never going to win a natty. He was yes a good football coach but a cranky SOB that couldnt get along with anybody. Besides he hated Bob and was itching to find another job and did.
Brother Bill brought us an SEC Title after a 16 year drought. He didn't have a losing record against Bama either. He was a 2 time SEC coach of the year winner in his short stay. When you posted he was a cranky SOB that didn't get along with anybody, it sounded just like Nick Saban.
Saban is cranky and volatile. I actually loved his outburst on the sidelines when he coached for us. Those outburst showed me he wanted things done right and was passionate about wining. Saw O get volatile this year which made me happy he still has the fire. I a bit cranky these days too
If I was an Auburn fan, I'd be excited by this hire. Harsin is a winner plain & simple. Young, energetic, purposeful sounding coach. He had 5 10+ seasons at Boise in 7 seasons, no losing seasons. He was still gainfully employed when hired, a big plus in my book. No retreads, reruns or promoting from within at Auburn. Will be interesting to see how he fills out his staff. Does he possibly keep Kevin Steele or get someone new?
He has no choice in his OC or DC. They are already there. He was a winner at Boise as was Peterson. Peterson has not faired as well away from the blue turf. This guy will get his ass handed to him in the SEC. Their recruiting for the year is horrible but at least Yella Wood gets to call the shots.
Who are Harsin's his OC & DC? If he's not given total control, why did they bother to fire former Arky high school coach, GusBus? I agree, not expecting too much next season from Harsin. I do think he can recruit better than #47. Although, I guess he can still pick up a few for this class. Guess we'll see in 2022. Peterson's not that bad. He's got a 55-26 record so far. Not great by any stretch. Can't win a Bowl game though.
